Should have made the Nylander trade for Hamilton 3 years ago. Dubas doesn’t have the balls needed for the job maybe.

He didn’t pull the trigger then, you think he’s going to trade the guy who’s had the most points on the team the last couple years??? Not a chance. JMO

Dubas will likely sign Dougie. Keep Rielly. Keep the core 4. Let Hyman walk in UFA. Sign Foligno cheap. Re-sign BOGO. Trade Holl. Kerfoot goes to Seattle. Keep Hutch as the backup goalie. Fill out his bottom 6 with league minimum guys including Jumbo Joe. Then Jimmy Tanner can write his "Studs and Duds" article for the 500th time celebrating how the Leafs have the greatest roster in the Cap era.

Marner will take some hits, and occasionally shows some emotion, but Willy is terrified of contact it seems. The odd time he’ll bump a guy along the boards, but usually he just lets the other play get to the puck first then taps him with his stick. I’ve never seen such cowardice from an NHL player in my life. No doubt the talent is there, but he’s not a guy you can depend on when the going gets tough.

How did Nylander score 5 goals in 7 games - on Price? Luck?

The league is actually turning into "studs and duds" before our very eyes as those middle-tier contracts are starting to fade and a new era of haves and have-nots becomes more apparent in a frozen cap era.

Then the Leafs should win in the playoffs right? Tampa has a $5 mil 4C. Of course they have an extra $16.5 mil to work with.

Oh fück off, Michael.

Nylander makes 4M less than Mitch the Bïtch, yet he had 5 goals these playoffs. Which matches Loser Mitch’s career total.

Playoff-No-Show Marner is gone, either this off-season or next.

How can Dubas save face admitting his cap allocation woes?

John Tavares needs to sit out the regular season next year. Then we can sign more studs and compete.

If the Leafs don't make the Conference Finals next season he's got to be done.

Right?

So how cheap of a contract would Foligno have to accept if he were to come back?

3 million a year for 3 years?

The Gull says the Leafs are trading Marner for Eichel and placing him on LTIR until the playoffs start. Sign Dougie. Trade Rielly for Jones. Sign Oleksiak.

They also won the cup last year, without the extra 16.

2 mil for 2 years? He could center your 3rd line if/when Kerfoot gets taken by Seattle.

He's 33 going to be 34 when the season starts ...do you mean a mil a yr for 2 yrs... Giving him 3 mil a yr to me is a major mistake.

TB might be going for a 3 Peat next season. Hedman likely starts the season on LOLTIR after his hip surgery. Then they can play musical injuries the rest of the season. Stamkos, RMD, maybe Kuch gets pregnant? I know, I know. They didn't break any rules yadda yadda.

I have no idea what he is worth.

The fact the Leafs paid a first+ to acquire him for playoffs implies he is worth at least 3 million.

But less term and money sounds better to me. I would just rather we have some form of depth rather than filling the lienup with 5 or 6 players who make 1 million or less.

Ya probably.

But overpaying bottom 6 aging forwards is working for NYI.

3 x 3 is probably too much. No idea really. I just don't want to run with a bunch of 1 million dollar plugs.

I'd move on from Foligno. But Dubie paid a 1st to get him and GM's hate admitting mistakes.. So when news broke a few days ago about Foligno willing to take less to stay in Toronto, I took that as Dubie greasing the skids for him being re-signed.

Of course it might've also been a shot across the bow at Hyman.

Brodie had more goals and Pietro through the first round and defense was hardly the issue against the Habs as we all know. So far on a stacked Vegas team with Pietro scoring 3 goals the Knights are down 2 to 1 in the series, that “leadership” better start coming through soon.

We all know what the issue was against the Habs, the top 2 players on the Leafs were not able to out perform the top players on the Habs, when then happens you generally lose a 7 game series.

According to Jack Han, the best D offered was Brandon Montour for Nylander.

WE are so reactionary. Pietrangelo was overall ok this year, but not great. The Habs might go to the finals, and I'd pick them to miss the playoffs next year. 3 out of 4 remaining teams are very flawed.
