Tampa / B's / Cats all locks for the playoffs... Leafs ???
Habs not going anywhere..
Sens coming but still a couple yrs out..
Sabres / Wings... rebuild
Is it farfetched to think Leafs could actually miss altogether next yr... if Habs continue to rise and Leafs hit a goalie bump or scuffle a bit. - dozerD10
Always a possibility. But a very unlikely outcome.
The Leafs suck in the post season. They can win in the regular season.
The Leafs should never try to sign a guy like Petro or Dougie. Why? Because they're the top free agent prize and we just can't afford a big salary on our d-corps.
Nah, we need to hold onto Mitch Marner because he's only 24 and is a Top 10 regular season points leader.
God forbid the Leafs look to balance their top end talent with an elite defenceman. We have to go down with the ship with the Core 4 because next season they just might get out of the first round!
Looking forward to next year when we run the same game plan with a few minor pieces shuffled for flavour. - mjones242
Should have made the Nylander trade for Hamilton 3 years ago. Dubas doesn’t have the balls needed for the job maybe.
He didn’t pull the trigger then, you think he’s going to trade the guy who’s had the most points on the team the last couple years??? Not a chance. JMO

1. Can Jack Campbell handle a much larger goaltending load?
2. Have teams solved the Leafs heavy-possession style game?
3. Can the Leafs actually figure out how to run a sustainable, unpredictable power play?
Lots of questions and I don't think the Leafs are necessarily a lock to make the playoffs. I think they will but then I think we're in for more of the same in the post-season if big changes aren't made.
Now that the rage has simmered down, I can look at this team a bit more objectively and say that.... (frank)ING TRADE EVERYONE FOR 1ST ROUND PICKS AND START OVER.

It's tantalizing to think about what might have been if Willie had been traded for Dougie. But hey, Dubas fell in love with the potential of AM34, Mitch, and Willie and he will not deviate.
Like, I get the potential of these 3 young stars, but to hitch your wagon to them and ride them out until their contracts expire and not contemplate* moving one of them when they keep failing at the most critical time? That's completely (frank)ed.
* Yes, it is possible that Dubas might see the light and has contemplated breaking the core up. But if he runs it back again this season, it's proof positive he's inflexible AF.

Marner/Rielly to Vancouver for a package might be a good option.
Not sure I want to trade 1 of them to someone we’ll face all the time.

Every team has questions. There is always a chance the Leafs miss.
But there is a chance the Bruins miss as well. And the Panthers, who I thought overperformed this year, could take a step back.

I think Dubas watches Moneyball about 3 times a week.
He will double, triple, quadruple down on this core. They will either succeed, or Dubas will be fired.

Pietrangelo was never going to Toronto. He was going to Vegas regardless of any offer made - xShoot4WarAmpsx
And yet Petro listened to the Leafs offer.
If anything, it was Dubas and Co. who weren't interested in backing up the Brinks truck for him. Apparently, the Leafs low-balled and weren't all that interested (cap hell with Core 4).
leafs are most likely only going to get prospects and picks for marner, no GM should be dumb enough to trade a player of comparable age and point production that make 4-5M less than marner for marner, the win in a marner trade is the cap space to get depth, leafs need players like Toffoli/Anderson,Josh, guys who can score in the 20s and make 5-6M
Spatso’s meltdown over the Don Cherry and Homer’s Iliad will remain the post of the day. The image of Don in hid poring over the original Greek version of the epic poem preparing for a show is now seared into my head - Canada Cup
Your really something . You must be the original hockey scholar . Instead of mocking because your so smart maybe you should listen. Putting the Cherry b.s to the side for a minute the point is that if you want killer instinct and grit then the organization has to promote and demand that mindset. Why is it that a guy like Taylor Hall starts hitting backchecking and even drops the mitts ? It’s because that’s the attitude of his team. He sees Marchand and Pasta not backing away and it rubs off. Marchand plays like a killer. Now he takes over aggressive penalties at times but thats better than getting thrown around like a rag doll . The leafs management and some of their high intellect fans can’t admit that mindset and attitude makes a major difference in play. It would effect teammates and opponents if everyone has the junkyard dog attitude. Starting with your leaders. But the Cherry crap your throwing is laughable. Nobody is talking about being thugs. The Islanders , you know the team with the traditional Cherry like men in charge don’t take a backward step , hit more than anyone and don’t take many penalties. Their success has a lot to do with attitude and team philosophy. If the leaf group pushed that idea instead of the we are so talented story maybe things change. Now I’m not a genius like you but I try to listen instead of mocking. Now you can continue with how much of a brute Cherry was.

There’s been far more mistakes than right calls during the Shanny era, Dubas hasn’t righted the ship one bit either.
Time to remodel. But they won’t because it’s the Leafs.. - Horsey Sauce
Well, they DID go from dead last to their best winning percentage in a hundred years and they currently have a lot of highly valuable assets, so they failed up somewhere along the way...
