I just wonder how long before AM goes the Nate the Great route with the comment
"I've been here X yrs and still haven't won SHET....Then the fireworks can really start...

I think that comment is a lot closer than people think... And that for sure will spur management to make some changes...

If Edmonton and Toronto fail to have any success next season, I wonder if we could see a AM(+) for 97 trade.. of both players start to show signs if being unhappy.

Probably not the year when he scores one goal in the playoffs and where he had two the year before. Just a guess, though.

If I were a Leafs fan and watched my team lose in the first round (even missed the actual playoffs last season) because they were too soft and they showed no real desire to change the identity of the team, I’d be pissed. They can build around 34/16, that’s why I’d be unhappy. They’re squandering the best opportunity they’ve had since the height of the Clark/Gilmour era. Those players showed a lot of heart.
- Horsey Sauce

The Leafs could play harder for sure.

But they lost because 34/16 combined for 1 goal.

There is no "and". There is no further analysis necessary. The Leafs invested 33 million in three players and those three players combined for 1 goal in a 7 game series. One of those players took a knee to the face in the first 10 minutes, so he gets a pass.

Anyone blaming Nylander after producing far more at a far lower cap hit simply has a blind hatred for Nylander.

Edmonton should just trade McDavid then too. Because he’s not getting it done. You need depth now to win, any team is capable of shutting down a top line.

Thanks Canada Cup?

But I don’t have AA’s info, and you probably could have just DM’d him that.

Mcdavid has like 13 points in his last 8 post season games.

I wouldn't be blaming Marner if he had production even remotely close to that.

I am curious to see what the game plan is this off season.

I have no idea what direction I would go if I was GM.

Stay the course, save his money and get ready for the firing squad.

I’m sure there’s some nice waterfront property in the Soo, he can sail into retirement at a nice young age of 25 or whatever he is.

I do think they need to make a decision about Marner; are these blips or are they worried? Secondly, my guess is that they need to come to an understanding with Rielly. All the $ stuff flows from those.

Change would have to come from Tanenbaum. Shanny, Dubas, and Keefe should all get sacked. Rip the band aid off and start great while the core is still young enough. Move Tavares if you can and change half the roster over the summer.

Grow up! There is nothing new. Don Cherry stole his themes from Homer and the Iliad. Everything we need to know about courage and triumph are already well understood.

True winners have brooded over their losses. They have learned from their defeat. And they have looked within themselves to find change. Losers are whiners, blamers and snivelers who want someone else to take responsibility for failure.

You are entirely incorrect, if you believe the Leafs can triumph without a change in character and leadership. The problem is in the dressing room, behind the bench and the front office.

- spatso

Spatso’s meltdown over the Don Cherry and Homer’s Iliad will remain the post of the day. The image of Don in hid poring over the original Greek version of the epic poem preparing for a show is now seared into my head

The Leafs should never try to sign a guy like Petro or Dougie. Why? Because they're the top free agent prize and we just can't afford a big salary on our d-corps.

Nah, we need to hold onto Mitch Marner because he's only 24 and is a Top 10 regular season points leader.

God forbid the Leafs look to balance their top end talent with an elite defenceman. We have to go down with the ship with the Core 4 because next season they just might get out of the first round!

Looking forward to next year when we run the same game plan with a few minor pieces shuffled for flavour.

Oh fück off, Michael.

Nylander makes 4M less than Mitch the Bïtch, yet he had 5 goals these playoffs. Which matches Loser Mitch’s career total.

Playoff-No-Show Marner is gone, either this off-season or next.

- Steven_Seagull

Right?

he's just stuck in neutral, spinning his wheels on Nylander. I mean, it's good for a laugh though, right? Like who comes here for "analysis".

Now that the rage has simmered down, I can look at this team a bit more objectively and say that.... (frank)ING TRADE EVERYONE FOR 1ST ROUND PICKS AND START OVER.

But seriously, Marner for Eichel. Let's go.

Sign Dougie.

Let's (frank)ing go.

Looking at the division next yr..

Tampa / B's / Cats all locks for the playoffs... Leafs ???

Habs not going anywhere..

Sens coming but still a couple yrs out..

Sabres / Wings... rebuild

Is it farfetched to think Leafs could actually miss altogether next yr... if Habs continue to rise and Leafs hit a goalie bump or scuffle a bit.

AM34, Snakevares, and Willie stay.

But yeah, everyone else can (frank) off as far as I'm concerned.

Marner for Eichel? (frank) yeah!

Sign Dougie? (frank) yeah!
