Exactly why JB needs to stay out of the tier one UFA market. Sign EP & QH and go into the season with what you have.

Unfortunately the GM no longer has that option. Do you think he will survive a full arena of Fire Benning? His hands are pretty well tied to make some serious moves now.

Happy Father’s Day to those of you manly enough to have planted your seed. For the rest of you, there’s still time, you probably just need to surround yourself with some guys who are good in the room to show you how it’s done. Might be a bit awkward , but I’m sure you will find a way to power through.

He said he's going to be aggressive in the UFA & trade market. He admittedly has two years left to produce results, then he'll have had 9 years. It's going to be an interesting summer, it won't be easy for him.

I guess the question I would ask is - from the player’s perspective, why would they sign a below market contract with the Canucks?

Remember, the league is withholding a percentage of all contract values, and escrow is increased until revenue starts to normalize. So signing a bargain contract means a triple reduction in salary.

I mean, sure, Hayman might be enticed to play with Petey and Miller, surely a better combo than Matthews and Marner. But what if Höglander has a good camp, Hayman struggles to start and he ends up playing with Grayovac or Beagle?

Ok what is below market or sign for how much?

Think AL will cost you a Myers contract. Bottom line, it’s going to be tough to both improve the team and avoid mortgaging the future.

From what I've seen/read, it'd be more in the high 4 range than 6. If it's under 5, I think that'd be a good number for him.

Yes, either way, JB has put himself into a bad position, and unfortunately I don't think many of us trust him to get himself out of it without setting the team back.

As far as OEL . I see no reason why they don't look into it. I would be sending Nate Schmidt back the other way. It means no signing Edler. Gives you a number one LHD for a number of years. Means you can trade one of Rathbone or Juolevi to fix another hole. Maybe a Rathbone for Foote swap .

I would look also at getting Tyler Johnson at half price for a very late round pick.

Don’t see TB trading the same cheap contract for a LHD giving up a RHD.

On Johnson maybe retain 1m & give a 4th at most.

I don’t know what guys will end up signing for, but you basically said you heard Hayman is looking for $6m? The “he will sign here for $4m or he can go play some place else” attitude won’t attract the guy you want. I suggest you find some recent comparables and expect he will sign a similar deal. Who are they guys like Hayman? Saad, Hoffman, Konecny? Maybe JT Miller? So probably somewhere between $5-$6m.

Who are the guys like Larsson? Is he a better Tanev?

Foote has to be protected in the E Draft and I also believe he can not be sent down on waivers . Rathbone doesn't .

I don't want Johnson @4 mil . It needs to be 2.5 -3 mil max

With OEL's numbers dropping rapidly is it really worth it? Why not see what Schmidt can do over a full schedule? Edler should be gone but probably will be back for a year in the 5-6 slot? OJ showed with the proper TOI he'll be fine. Can't panic lol

Contract comparables before covid not happening imo. Hyman js a very good 3rd wheel in the top 6 or even 9 given a good 3C but that depends on Green & so many other factors. 6m is outta the question unless some fool GM signs him or he signs for a bottom feeder with cap & that I highly doubt unless all about the money. Best comparable imo is Palat he signed for 5.3m precovid so I discount accordingly to about the 4-4.5m range.

On AL almost a Tanev & again he’ll sign a covid deal in this market place. Any more & we walk. So max imo is 4-4.25m.
