At least we'll be able to add to our great young player stash. I'm looking forward to seeing this core group in a few years. I'm not looking forward to getting rid of two guys who are supposed to lead them.

The organization is managed by a rookie GM with the same impulsive owner. 13/14 had bare cupboards with butt loads of draft capital that was washed away in 2 seasons.

This time they have some prospects, they will trade away the quality on the existing roster and be right back to a lot of draft capital. They aren't even at the draft Skunk stage yet, they are at the Trade Vanek and Miller stage all over again.

Nothing from management in the last decade shows me this time around will be any different.

I'm not saying that I do. Trading Jack is going to be embarrassing enough. But trading for anything other than players in their teens or low twenties is an absolute blunder if they're not the centerpiece. If you're building a team, fine, get everyone on the same development path. Let them all grow into the game together.

And make sure you have the right (frank)ing coach.

I disagree. The assets you're trading today are much more valuable than the ones you traded 8 years ago.

The composition of this team now is loaded with high draft picks. The scenario resembles that of 2014, but what we have on the roster today, and what we'll have tomorrow, is far superior than what was going on in 2014. Plus, Jason was semi competent at the draft table, and also didn't trade away the last remaining viable prospects.

I'm looking forward (as much as one can in this situation) to the players we'll have here, plus the returns from Sam Jack and (please God) Risto.
