While I agree Hyman is a very useful player, it seems the Toronto media/fanbase are strongly overestimating his true market value. As a 29 year old sluggish player with a limited skillset, Hyman is on the onset of decline, likely destined to spend most of his next contract patrolling a 3rd line. With this in mind, most GMs seem to assess Hyman's value at <$18 million over 4 years. There may be a desperate GM willing to offer a bit more, but it is unlikely a player of this ilk will be offered anything close to $36 million or 6 years.
