Since when is Ullmark an average starter?
When Ullmark is healthy and actually able to shoulder a starters workload, it will be the first time.
If somebody gives him $5M per, they're nuts.
To me, if Ullmark is your starter, it means you need 3 goaltenders, not two, and I cannot spend money on a starter like that. - kingcong39
You seem to take issue with the suggestion that Ullmark's camp is looking for starter's money every time I've mentioned it this season. In his shoes, would you really take less to stay in Buffalo and not test the market?
It's not like I'm a big Ullmark fan. I'd move on from him.

I was told Calgary was the likeliest Jack destination, with Anaheim in the mix. Feel free to confirm deny PM.

Just can't see the devil's going for risto as the devils rely on analytics and unless it's for cheap I don't see them do it - dmarsden2988
Devils have been after Risto for two or three years according to the insiders. They must be looking past the analytics |

You seem locked in on 2 names I pulled quickly from the lottery tool. I also mentioned Kivlenieks. He's younger and more interesting because he could be more than a stop-gap. I'm sure there's other options. I didn't dig very much.
Also, I'm not necessarily saying it has to be a pick for a G. Could easily be part of a bigger deal. - Lunaion
He looks intriguing.
I get what you're saying but if this a blow up situation, I just don't see the point in spending assets unless it's something like the Colorado 6th round pick. The Sabres need to stockpile assets and do it right this time.
I'm also assuming that this coming year is just going to be thrown on to the pile of wasted seasons and the Sabres are going to break the playoff record.
Maybe they'll try to win instead |

That's fine to think, and I really have no issue with it, but it results in him testing the market. My point here has really been that I don't see a middle ground that keeps him from looking around.
I don't want to see them overpay here either. - Lunaion
i agree i can't see any scenario where he doesn't test the market
and im fine with that |

It's more that you seem to be making an assumption that there's one or more teams who are going to be willing to pay Ullmark starter money. I completely disagree with that.
Ultimately, we're on the same page as neither of us would pay him anywhere near that money or term. |

He'll get better grades next year I bet. Krueger had a lot to do with the bad grades
Well unless he bungles Eichel - Hank Balling
It’s probably not even that fair to trade Adams on this season- season nice the roster was supposedly put together mostly by Kruger |

He has some connections, but not to the level of guys like LeBrun, MacKenzie, or Dreger. As much as I dislike the guy, his insider news is correct most of the time.
He's not really going out on a limb here. He checked in with his LA sources who have essentially said there's no desire to trade Byfield for Eichel. He's checked in with other sources who have said that Eichel to LA would require Byfield in return. Therefore, there's no trade to be made.
If Buffalo backs down from requiring Byfield in return, then I'm sure LA would be back in as a suitor. So far, it sounds like they haven't done so, therefore LA is still out on Eichel. |

I have no idea what's going to happen if he hits the open market. Crazy things do happen in UFA, but it's also a flat cap world.
I just like to rant about giving him the one year deal and putting themselves in a terrible position of negotiating against themselves. Sam, Linus, and others have reason to be pissed at how the organization has handled their contracts.

Question for everyone, what player in the NHL would you trade 1 for 1 with Jack Eichel? - realsabresfan11
I don’t wanna trade him 1 for 1
No one we’d possibly bring in is gonna be able to lead this team to victory
Get a good package, and rebuild again
This time…. Do it right though
Sucks, but that’s where we are at imo |

If what's been rumored about Eichel and Botterill is true, then it's been a full on dumpster fire of how to handle player contracts. |

It’s possible that LA could back down on their stance too though
They’ve been calling about Eichel for 2 seasons now, so they’re clearly very interested
Let’s just see how this all plays out |

Thanks for this. FWIW Friedman gave Hoven a lot of credit for being closely tied into the org.
