Jack Eichel is absolutely that great.
However, for the Sabres to get market value for him it would take a team to blow up their entire roster to put them in a similar position the Sabres are in now.
Hence why it’s going to be the Joe Thornton trade 2.0 - Pegullaville
Provably false. The Ducks and Kings have vets that are at the end of their prime. The vets don't want to wait for prospects to grow.

So you don’t think Bob Murray is sitting there thinking that in 12 months Eichel can tell him to Frank off too ? - Pegullaville
Then you would think he wouldn't be calling inquiring about him. If that's the case, don't call. You know what it's going to cost and Buffalo isn't going to take you're possible scenario and alter their value of the asset.
That would be like me saying that I will pay less for a new car because my wife always hits stuff. The dealer wouldn't care, nor should we. |

Sabres may be able to pry one of Zegras or Drysdale, or 3rd overall but I have a tough time thinking they will get 2 of the 3.

Let’s say you’re right, & the Ducks are just lying to themselves….
Why do we care?
That’s their problem, not ours - jdfitz77
Well of course.
The discussion started many pages back, back to my original post that I don't believe Anahiem is really in it to win it...by that meaning gutting their futures to win now. They don't have the roster nor the pipeline. It is GMTM allover again. Of course, if they insist...good for Adams!
The Wild, that makes sense to me. They have a team that came close...Jack could put them over the top with the existing roster. The Kings too, but with some of their prospects ready to graduate..adding Jack into that mix of new young players gets them into the PO's.
Theoretically, those teams aren't subtracting major components from their roster...Jack us a huge add.
The Ducks? 43 pts. Take away their top scorer.
Doesn't add up.
I dont believe they will be willing to do what it takes.
Use them to extract more value for sure..if they want to gut their future..great for the Sabres! |

Agree they might not, but then you better get two of Comtois, Terry, 2022 1st etc.

Well reportedly the Ducks are having conversations with the Sabres on Eichel
Who knows if they’ll get him, but they’re interested
I’m not really into trying to figure out their motivation/justification for going after him
Just glad there’s a bunch of teams that want him
Bc that’s only gonna drive up the price |

Both of those teams absolutely stink and Eichel won't fix that on his own.
they're at the beginning of rebuilds, not at the end.
If you're the Kings, you're not suddenly a good team if you trade your top prospects for Eichel.
same with the Ducks. If you gut the best prospects you have and add Eichel, you're still going to have a bad team in a couple years. |

No, no...
Jack would bring like 20 wins to any team, no matter what the trade is.
I do think the Kings would be in better position though..their roster and pipeline is much better. |

if he adds twenty wins but the team trades away 10 then does it really help them? and why would he want to stay with a team that's just entering a rebuild anyway? Are the ducks any good 5 years from now if they get Eichel but lose Zegras, Terry, a top 3 draft pick? Suddenly they have middling talent today and nothing to surround Jack with going forward.

Right, but it's your problem if they realize this and decide it's not worth giving all that stuff up to get him. |

First off, I think he was being sarcastic because no player is worth 10 wins let alone 20.
Second, it is never as simple as wins in and wins out in a trade
The entire point of acquiring Eichel vs. letting prospects develop is you are moving unknown quantity for a known quantity.
Also, say you are moving out 3 guys who'd eventually be on the roster for 1 (Eichel).
That's two open roster spots to fill with guys hopefully contributing in the + column of wins above replacment |

It's going to be hilarious to see your reaction when the trade happens and you get no where near the BS you've been spouting off about. |
