fear of repercussion from the team. Odds are good these guys were young players or rookies. Going to the police about somebody on the coaching staff could jeopardize your career.

there were 9 guys that dressed for that team under the age of 24.

Versteeg
Bolland
Barker
Bickell
Smolenak
Hjalmarsson
Skille
Kane
Toews

Not saying it was any of them, but there's a pretty good chance it was a younger guy.

- BINGO!

Complaint said "Career was derailed, etc"

Cam Barker? - was traded mid-season
Jack Skille? - no games played in playoff run

The only thing necessary to bring a lawsuit is to show that the company was aware or should have been aware of the complaint. Telling the President of the company accomplishes this.

An investigation by HR is not impartial in the least - they're employees of the company. Let's pretend McD had HR investigate, and then fired the guy. Does this mean anything legally? Nope. The victim is still free to file a lawsuit. How about if the investigation concludes that nothing happened. Does this mean anything legally? Nope. The person can still file a lawsuit. In either case, a jury will decide the facts and the outcome.

The perpetrator actually left the team a few weeks after the meeting. What would an HR investigation have accomplished differently? Aside from the statute of limitations - which is a serious problem for the plaintiffs - another issue is whether the team had a legal obligation to involve the police. These are not kids (minors) in the care of a school; they are adults.

I am not talking about the lawsuit, I am talking about how the claim is supposed to be handled, after the allegation was known.

New blog! A look at the need for talent, not just work ethic and compete level, in order for the Blackhawks to rebuild to being a contender again.

Plus, thoughts on rough-and-tumble Russian blueliners Nikita Zadorov and Dmitri Osipov.
