For those of us who don't have a lot of time for Hike Marrington?
- TheSabresTaco

Discusses Jack being a good Captain or not. Says he hates to do it but backs the Sabres on there reluctance to let Jack have the Surgery he wants. And thinks the Sabres have a big problem on there hands because a lot of teams will be hesitant to let Jack have that Surgery. Unless they get someone to bite, could see Jack back here until he can prove to other teams he is healthy and builds up his value again.

He is not doing his job if he doesnt interview at least 100 coaches. Apparently other GMs are idiots for identifying coaches right away and getting their direction set and are starting their off-season's.

Its not like they had months to identify top candidates and go after one.

I assume they are going to hire a Barry Trotz clone from the Islanders and defense defense defense.

Nothing about what Adams has said or done should lead this conclusion. This is you wanting to build (yet another) defeatist narrative. I am not saying that you should have all of the confidence in the world in Adams. I am saying that this was a very irrational conclusion.

What exactly has Adams said or done?

I have no idea what his thought process is

The descriptions of the players are much more informative than the ranking of assets.
- TheSabresTaco

It's a tough draft year up top. Am making no claims to scouting superiority. Power's is regarded as 1, and I'm good with him. I like, Berniers reminds me of Peca and a case could be made for him. Guenther has some great attributes that I'm good with. I think Hughes and Eklund arw the most dynamic at their positions and have the most upside.

That's why I'm not fretting a trade down

I believe the problem really is No respectable coach wants to come here. We are a complete train wreck. what do we have to offer a coach? We are supposedly trading the 2 players we tanked for jack & Sam, we have no goalie, we have a WAY over priced winger/s in Okposo and Skinner and what's left is Dahlin (unimpressive) Dylan C (still very young) and Mittle-SHAT. that the core.

YIKES, If I was a Coach I would rather coach High school hockey to a bunch of inner city school kids that did not know how to paly the game.

I'm not sure why people bag on Trotz. All he's ever done was win using the talent on hand. I'd assume any coach from his tree would do the same

He has said from the day that Ralph was fired that he wants a team to play an up-tempo and aggressive style of play. I think Krueger was probably more like what the Isles try to play in a very basic sense (defense first).

Isles play an up-tempo, aggressive game in all three zones. That's why they're so hard to play against

Did the article on Girardi say he was taking another job or that he interviewed for another job? I think Sabres end up bringing them back. It will all work out. Especially when they package #1 OA with Eichel.

They do, but the focus is always defense. They expect to score less goals and to throttle the other team. Offense comes from playing strong D.

The only problem is he's a winger He's practically everything Beniers is with a higher Offence production in the end .

If he was a center he be an easy choice for first overall

Or if jack and sam stayed he could Be that franchise Winger that Jack needs

Rhino for Zacha or Butcher and the first is intriguing, but I think I'd prefer high-end prospects instead.

Can't argue his success rate. I think the Sabres, at this point, should adopt a similar strategy

No, you definitely can't argue the success rate. My fear is that we would fall into the same trap that Ralph did - running a system that doesn't fit the roster. The Isles have a fair amount of bigger guys that play a heavy game.

Great point. It's a tough draft at the top and Pronman mentions this draft being below average up there.
- Michael Pachla

This may be true.
It may also be true that these guys have all been impacted by one of the most unusual years in their draft year, with all muted live viewings and interviews.

Also, Average is defined as NHL caliber. So, Powers Average skating evaluation is NHL ready. Further, His straight line speed is what knocks him down..which is the least important skating attribute...his edges are highly rated, which is more crtical.

Lastly, Corey states Power would be fighting for #2 or 3 ranking in last years class...NOT BAD at all.

I get that. Donnie g had them playing on their toes. That's the first step, I'd assume, and the you can go from there. I'd think Lambert would do the same

This doesn't scream 1st overall pick to me. Even using a curve for this draft class
