Speed? - Santo_44
Wennberg isn't fast, but yes. Fast and hard to play against would be ideal. |

Meh. Nosek is actually really physical and is the "ideal" fourth liner. Cogs is small but plays hard and PKs like a beast. Wennberg is soft, but he is great on the PP and can be a 3rd line scoring centre or passing 2nd line winger.
Depends on their price obviously, but I'd take all three over Simmonds/Joe/random other old man. I would like to see what Joey Anderson can do though on the 4th line. He has some good speed and hands. - AdamFrench
If Dubie can sign Foligno to 2M then they sign another forward to 2.5M-3M they have the makings of a good bottom 6 and will have the cap to add a good forward to replace Hyman.
Mikheyev-Wennberg(2.75M)-Foligno(2M)
?-Brooks-Spezza
Robertson,Anderson and maybe some other Marlies can rotate in and out of that 4th line. They probably add some 700K show me guys as well. |

I'd like to see them go back to the mentality where they were just hard to contain.
I want the bottom 6 to be fast and hungry. |

Agree with this. At the end of the day though you have to look at the coach as well. Do we really want more of the same tag football mentality in the playoffs. Knuckle dragger like Chiarot bludgeoning the (frank) out of Matthews while Engvall gives Suzuki a huggie poo instead of creaming him into the boards. - winsix

Screw Hamilton.
Nurse has one year left and is a former Dubas Greyhound.
Rielly for Nurse? - The Law
How does that help us?
Rielly's better than Nurse, and it just means we have a different guy to lose to UFA next year.

Bogosian was supposed to be our knuckledragger - AdamFrench
Bogosian was invisible but hard to fault a guy playing 4 or 5 minutes a game. Engavall and Mikheyev both took regular shifts are both big and should be considered Cy young candidates for all their no-hitters. It cringeworthy watching a 5'9" on the opponent hit like a devil and a strong 6'5" player like Engvall totally unwilling to hit

Mikheyev makes $1.645M, so I'm fine with bringing him back next year for his speed.
Once he hits UFA at the end of next year, buh-bye. |

I'm not a big Hamilton fan. Just my opinion but I think he's more of the same. Big soft splashy regular season guy and in a world that rewards those types Hamilton and Rielly are probably 8+ and unaffordable.
I'm thinking Nurse is maybe a better fit long term, brings some "playoff" elements and signs for something that starts with a 6 rather than an 8. |

He had a terrible playoff, didn't hit and didn't score. Third and fourth liners on remaining teams better and hit harder than Engvall, Mikheyev and ham sandwich. Only player on the bottom six that is a keeper for me is Spezza. Don't care how fast he skates if he does nothing with it.
For me:
Keepers (forwards)
Matthews
Nylander
JT
Kerfoot
Spezza
Robertson
Hyman (at the right price) < $4.5 M
Galchenyuk (at the right price) at or near minimum
(don't care)
Marner
Riley Nash
Foligno
Brooks

Engvall
Mikheyev
Thornton
Simmonds

Holl
Sandin
Brodie

Interesting- and goes against what I preach for the most part -
Isles F deployment-
Pageau only Isles F to play more than 17 minutes
Martin only 1 to not play at least 13 -
That’s having 4 good lines…. |

Only in the regular season. Not in the Stanley Cup tournament.
Leafs should try to win the regular season Championship instead. Focus on the President's Trophy. |

Give up assets to get a high cap hit for a 36 year old? Not sure about the logic. - winsix
No, that's why Hamilton would be open to it and why CAR is advertising it (CAR gets an asset back, Hamilton gets an 8-year deal vs. a 7-year deal). |

He's cheap enough and effective enough defensively that I'm willing to give him another look next year. He was really good in his rookie year and then the wrist injury set him back, which affected his confidence this year. |

Why I want 34/16 split up.
I'd love for this, but probably not happening:
Whatever Matthews Nylander
Whatever Eichel Whatever
Whatever Tavares Whatever
Whatever Engvall Whatever
That's 4 lines you can roll. |

Bottom line: we have no cap space.
Mikheyev doesn't score.
We can't afford to pay 13 forwards who can score.
If the salary cap was eliminated, you couldn't get rid of Mikheyev fast enough.
Until then, he can play on the PK and make exciting end to end rushes (without scoring, of course). |

Agree with all of that except Foligno and Bogo. If Holl does't eat a meal and lift a weight so he can start hitting and clearing the front, then add him to the Fu3k Off list for me.
My FU3K ALL THE WAY OFF list:
Rielly....only if we could sign Hamilton or similar... and only PP Rielly really. I like him as a player, just want someone better and a slap shot from the point threat on this team would be fu3king awesome for the first time in, like, forever.
Engvall the feather duster, most useless/maddening player on this roster...all 8 inches of his neck too. Every fu3king inch can fu3k right off.
Thornton...I had to write his name in high speed motion so you guys could read it before page 42 of these boards.
Micheyev, needs to go meet with the Def Leopard drummer if there's any hope, he's lost his hands.
Simmonds...he caught Micheyevitis post injury, lost his hands and his balls.
Hutton aka the new Marincin.
Hyman pops at over $3.5 to $4M for me, so any more than that, fu3k 'em.
And the unpopular opinion of MARNER.
IDGAF about 100pt regular season, selfish stats. If he could put up 60 pts and not get thrown around like a 6 year old girl with a pocket full of skittles by the fat kid on the playground, then I would keep him.
If he can't get over his fear of being touched by another player...
If he can get over falling down when the breeze of Matthews zooms passed him...
If he could shoot the puck fast than a fu3king whiffle balls...
If he can finally get his lady balls to drop and do some playoff hockeying...
If he could take a salary commensurate to his ability and give us back $3M/year
...then keep him.
But FFS could we use that extra Cap and playoff type players right now.
