foligno has been going downhill for last 2 seasons.
clearly not as good anymore as he used to be.
a waste of a 1st rounder, in particular hall, palmieri and savard were available as well.

- MaximusAurelius

but some of those players did not want to play for a Canadian team.
how do you account for that?

Yeah but like Jumbo's not really an NHL player anymore.
- BINGO!

He is. He's just a niche player. I think the Leafs should look at guys like Nosek or Cogliano or Wennberg.

Hyman is a nice candidate for an overpay disappointment contract.
going to get his down years, and he isnt playing with AM/MM.

- senstroll

Right now, Hyman is a pretty damn good player. I don’t know what the too much money/term point is and teams will go after him but he brings a lot to those two

Give up assets to get a high cap hit for a 36 year old? Not sure about the logic.
- winsix

The 8 year contract is obviously a lot more attractive to the player but provides zero advantage for the signing team.

I guess a player might say, "I'm not signing with Team X unless they give me 8 years to play there", but I can't imagine that tactic would bear much fruit.

From Steve Simmons;

"Rental Nick Foligno apparently wants to stay with the Leafs. That’s what he’s telling people. If the team can’t sign Zach Hyman, which is likely, maybe they can afford Foligno."

- Atomic Wedgie

Meh, fack steve simmons, I dont trust a word he says.

Pay hyman no more than 4.2 or let him walk.
Foligno at 2 -3 per...not bad

I think Ryu's numbers are ever-so-slightly better but, year, Ray has been a pleasant surprise!

I think if the Jays add another legit top end starter they have a real chance to win this year.

(a big "if" though)

Meh. Nosek is actually really physical and is the "ideal" fourth liner. Cogs is small but plays hard and PKs like a beast. Wennberg is soft, but he is great on the PP and can be a 3rd line scoring centre or passing 2nd line winger.

Depends on their price obviously, but I'd take all three over Simmonds/Joe/random other old man. I would like to see what Joey Anderson can do though on the 4th line. He has some good speed and hands.

Screw Hamilton.

Nurse has one year left and is a former Dubas Greyhound.

Rielly for Nurse?

His back was (frank)ed source: Chris Johnston

He actually fit very well his first 4 games before the injury

I'm not ruling him out being back for a year...cbj will always have a place for him

its a dead heat pretty much.
the jays have the prospects to add at the deadline, will just have to see where they are at close to the TDL. at least the schedule gets easier, and can we finally have Springer back for good

then it gets interesting

Yeah its tough to look past the wall of the Leafs 1st round but he was very good.

Maybe if he is proud enough and wants to finish the business he didnt even start here and Dubas gives him an opportunity next to AM and Marner to rack him some points it might be enough.

I hear you - Skalapy made me do it.

For me the ideal 4th line puts two good skating energy/PK types with size out there with Vintage.

And the 3rd line needs something. Kerfoot-Engvall-Mikky ..I just don't know what they bring as a unit.

Agree with this. At the end of the day though you have to look at the coach as well. Do we really want more of the same tag football mentality in the playoffs. Knuckle dragger like Chiarot bludgeoning the (frank) out of Matthews while Engvall gives Suzuki a huggie poo instead of creaming him into the boards.
