foligno has been going downhill for last 2 seasons.
clearly not as good anymore as he used to be.
a waste of a 1st rounder, in particular hall, palmieri and savard were available as well. - MaximusAurelius
I'm not talking about who they should have traded for. |

He's only coming back if he is proud and wants to finish some business
In that case it wouldn't be about the money |

you probably shouldn't - BINGO!
1 year cheaper deal is a no brainer for me.
It would be a better deal than 90% of the free agency signings about to happen. |

Yeah I don't think they let him walk if it's $8 million. Any higher and it's a problem.
That's where I think the biggest discrepancy is. His agent probably thinking he can get Pietrangelo money on the open market and the Canes are laughing him out of the room.
This whole thing is probably a "okay, go find that money then if you think you can get it." - BINGO!
Dubious will offer him 8yrs 10.9M/yr |

I’m guessing it would be hard to turn down 3-4 year from another team. I’m guessing he’s not back, but who knows.
It’s nice to want to play for a certain team but at this point would you turn down an extra 5-6 milly. |

He is 34...no way he gets a 3-4 year deal IMO.
And his contract won't be high either. CBJ maybe offers him more than he is worth at 2-3 years 3M. But in a flat cap no team will be giving him that. |

If we are talking Spezza money, let's do this.
If we are talking Hyman money, I hope they both find nice new homes. |

Hyman is a nice candidate for an overpay disappointment contract.

Yeah pretty much. He's just an older bottom 6 forward, really.

I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit tries to sign Hyman. Stevie values talent, hustle and character. He has alot of salary coming off the books and has a boat load of cap space. Hyman played on the same line in college with Larkin.
I still believe Hyman takes less to stay in Toronto. Yzerman doesn't leak anything so it's not like I've heard anything. It's just a gut feeling on my part. Yzerman might be interested in signing Hyman. But it doesn't mean he'll sign with Detroit.
Wings will soon have an influx of young prospects coming up and Zach would be a perfect vet to show them the way. He's not too old.
Yzerman is still early in his rebuild but he's stated many times he wants his team to compete. I don't think he'd hesitate paying Hyman 5-5.5 mil a year on a 4 year deal. It's up to Hyman. He'll get plenty of offers. But he'll have to take less to stay in Toronto. |

He is a level above a Simmonds or Thornton...I have no doubts about that. Especially in his own end...Still plays at a high level there. |

Id enjoy it because it means a cheaper add than it would cost to get the same player in FA. |

Lou scoops Hyman for a favourable deal, and sends everyone in here over the edge. |
