Knowing our luck, if we traded for Eichel his neck injury would be a permanent issue that he deals with his whole career. |

Although I understand why a top pairing D man seems to be the most popular answer, I think a 1B goalie is the most pressing need. If they put all of their eggs in Harts basket and he comes up small again, without a backup they are losers no matter what other changes they make. If they have solid goaltending it can erase a lot of the other problems. |

Or it doesn't! And you either:
-Keep him at C1, and Coutourier to a C2,
-Or vice versa, & with maybe G as C3 in both scenarios.
If the Flyers truly believe you build down the middle, that should be damn appealing. |

No love for Gilbert Dionne?
He was another principle coming to Flyers.
I think LeClair was a throw-in. - DrMidnite
No, he did nothing here, I don't even think he lasted a year and I don't think he scored a single goal. |

My comment was mainly sarcasm sorry haha. Where does Kevin Hayes fit in this plan? That’s a lot of cap tied to centermen assuming Couts is resigned |

I meant at the time of the trade, LeClair was the afterthought, not Dionne. |

Hmmm. You're right. Welp either move him or G or keep G at wing and move Hayes to 3C.
I have a feeling anything is possible this summer. |

If this team gets adequate goaltending, just adequate. They’re a playoff team. Get me a reliable 1b asap. |

Patrick, Frost, Ghost, Brink & 13th for Seth Jones and Boone Jenner - DraftandDestroy
I don't see how that can work capwise.

And then? Would the 1b goalie help them advance once there?
Or is that the extent of our aspirations? Or is this the old chestnut of "anything can happen once you get in the playoffs?" |

I agree on that feeling! I loved Hayes in his first season, not so much last year playing through his injury. someone the other day presented an interesting idea of shipping Hayes to Boston as they’re losing some key guys. If you could do that and bring Eichel in, wowzers. Chuck would certainly gain more fans. |

Kevin Hayes has a NMC for another year.
After next season, it looks like it becomes a partial NMC.
On top of that, he is a $7.14 million cap hit.
So trading Hayes has its obstacles. |

All of the above!! The easiest fixes are probably a more reliable backup goalie cause there are a good number available this off season. Also finding a viable defender to play with Provorov. The difficult part will be to fix this forward group! They are way too
slow and soft at the forward position. I really have no clue how they're going to fix this issue with their logjam of overpaid veteran forwards that aren't producing up to what they are being paid. Still can't believe that they passed on Caufield twice!! |

The poster who presented the idea said Hayes may waive for Boston since it’s his hometown. But all hypothetical scenarios |

Funny. Doesn’t matter team you are if your started goes down or craps the bed your season is over. A backup doesn’t do much in that case. |

So, you think Habs beat Vegas, eh? Why?
You may be right. Here is my take. Habs haven't seen a team like Vegas. Toronto was a pretty team in their play. Jets were neutered by the suspension of Scheifele. Vegas is a big, ornery, playoff experienced team. They are going in knowing how Price has been playing and that he is the Habs biggest weapon by far. They are going to be in the paint, their bums in Price's face, all game long, and they are going to look for lots of deflections and dirty sog.
Here is a gentleman's wager for you (with the dubious premise that we are both gentlemen), swami: Vegas in 6 or less. |

Kevin Hayes is already 29 and has 5 more years at a $7.14 million cap hit. So i'd be willing to move him.
It would be a challenge. But Boston is a interesting angle. |

There are very few goaltenders who could've kept the ship afloat in the hockey environment that was the situation with the Flyers last year. It caused a highly talented and technically sound player in Carter Hart to completely lose his game and technique to the point where they had to remove his from the team setting for a few weeks. Yes, the Flyers need a quality backup but it is not the top need. Getting the team game and team defense in order is the top need. Position wise that means adding a capable top pairing defenseman, preferably RH to the mix.

I wouldn't mind resigning Morin and letting Sanheim walk.
. - Nh_kong
Morin is mostly likely a 7th NHL defenseman, if he is a NHL defenseman at all. Sanheim is a legit top 4 NHL defenseman.

Unless the Flyers are including some other high level assets with him, there is no chance that Boston takes on that contract.

Agree. That's why I get annoyed by GM's who sign players to contracts like this.
GM's don't know what the future has in store for their team. Injuries, bad chemistry, prospects that don't make it. That's why good GM's know the value of always having cap space and flexibility to make moves. Not just this year, but also down the road.

Perhaps if a team still needs a:
1. Solid 1B goaltender
2. True #1 dman
3. Goal Scoring Winger
4. 3rd Line center
Its time to admit the half hearted rebuild by Hextall was a waste of time.
Forget though, this franchise is too proud to ever do what needs to be done.
Maybe thats why they are so forced into marketing the alumni, Gritty, and Hayes.
Couturier was drafted in 2011, Giroux in 2006. Bunch of complimentary pieces since, and father time rolls along. |
