he said they want to do a sign and trade

BTW I like your idea of Nichushkin from yesterday that would be an excellent 3 rd line pick up.

2.5m for 20pts. Big & could help Pod transition. Idk if wanna give up much.

I'm wondering more does he want too much? Is it term they don't like? Do they think he's replaceable? Is it their own cap they worry about?

If he wants 9M a season for 8 years, I probably would and get rid of other. Brady Skjei is a movable contract who isn't needed with Jake Bean waiting for a top 4 spot.

Pay someone to take Jake Gardiner off your hands. Nino has 1 year left and with Jarvis, Suzuki, Bokk, Drury, Geekie all looking for spots potentially next season.

They have drafted and developed really well. I would say losing him is a massive step back for the club.

2.5M for more around 30 points a year in an 82 game schedule. Had some PK time in Col. Would certainly help Podz I'm sure. Everything that Roussel was in his first season but 500k cheaper.

I would suspect a 3rd gets it done but with the bodies that Van already has whether they are better or not than him. Them not being able to protect everyone. I might go with a 5th and truscott? I wouldn't be giving value and would walk away if they wanted it.

Was just looking , Loui has never hit 30 pts as a Canuck.

Sutter hit 30 pts in 2016
Roussel hit 30 pts 2018

That is the easy quick answer, I know.

That 7.5 mil that you were going to spend on Pettersson could be put towards offering Dougie Hamilton a contract.

I have to admit I don't like Hughes as our top Dman .

I would rather a top 3 of Hamilton Power and Hughes over Hughes Hamonic and Schmidt. Like I said just a hypothetical .

- VANTEL

For me it's actually pretty simple. You don't move Pettersson who will be a top 5 scorer in the league for a maybe draft choice at this point. I like Hughes as our top dman and the build needs to start around him. Don't get sucked into the flu year results. Hughes will bounce back huge and will be in the Norris talk. Bringing Hamilton here under Green is a massive risk and like Schmidt would take time to adjust. I think Schmidt will bounce back as well so lets see what he can do in a full 82 game shed with no stupid breaks. We have a an excellent core that Benning has drafted just need to work within and not get to crazy moving pieces around. We need a RHD and a 3LC. Focus on those immediate needs right now and move on IMO.

You know, that's not a bad idea, to be honest. I'd want more than Ty Smith back, though.

That's why I mentioned they have good assets to add.

Could make a real nice 3rd line.

I know it is not even being discussed with the Canucks. I am just starting a discussion of other options for fun.

I don't think Schmidt will be back he is the guy I can see being moved seeing he is a bit of a nut job.

I am not being drawn in to the sky is falling. I think with Pods we now go into building the third line (7 NHL forwards ) Pods will play with Bo. I know Benning said we are going to fix the bottom of the roster.

This is just offseason silliness talk and I don't believe Petey will be moved.

You have to ask yourself, why on Gods green earth would Dougie Hamilton, in the prime of his career, want to come to Vancouver when they've finished near the bottom of the league for six of the last seven years....AND....they still have cap issues for the next couple years that'll hurt their chances of being competitive.
- LeftCoaster

He doesn't. It's just the delusional portion of the effervescent fanbase that have convinced themselves that there are no cap issues.

Weird to think of New Jersey not being able to play any defence

Trade options also out there with cap crunches and expansion draft looming

Tyson Jost? BCHL kid squeezed out in Colorado behind MacK/Kadri/Compher

Booner Jenner? CBJ rebuild

- Nucker101

He'd be a great pickup, I watched him play for the Vee's, talented player. I know the Canucks were watching him in Penticton.

They’ll be fine once they hire a decent cap circumventologist. Maybe Aquaman can draw on his Sicilian connections to “rid” himself of a few bad contracts.

I know everyone wants the forward group to be better, but this team badly needs help on the backend. Hopefully this draft helps with the 3lc and some decent defensemen in rounds 2 and 3.
I think now more than ever, this organization and fanbase needs to be patient, ride out some of these contracts and reassess where they are at, next off-season.

Tried to balance the Canucks' depressing Stanley Cup anniversaries with some prospect talk in the new blog.

And what band did you see in a small club before they blew up? I think I've told the story before about when the Tragically Hip opened for the cover band at the bar I DJed at in Kamloops?
