I would rather go the trade route but free agents you could look at Danault Zajack Stasny . They would all come in around 5 mil . Cheaper ones Wennberg Nosek Haula.

I would rather go by trade even something like Schmidt plus for Kuznetsov or Kadri for?

It’s professional sports to you, it’s a career for him. If the organization didn’t get value for their money it’s because they didn’t evaluate their needs correctly, or they didn’t evaluate their employee correctly.

This mentality of he can stay for cheap or see ya is something only a fan would say. What if he signs a $3m contract, what would you say then? “Well Benning must know what he’s doing”?

End of the day, I don’t think they can afford to keep him, and I don’t think he takes a league minimum contract to stay.

- 1970vintage

I’m playing GM. 1/1m or test free agency. He is owed nothing & that is sports. He can go chase the money for all I care. For 3m you can say whatever you like for Jimbo. Your hypothetical not what I would say.

750k is league minimum btw.

I am waiting to see what they do . I can't like or dislike the roster without knowing what it is. I do know that you can't have change by doing the same thing with the same people.

I like the way Motte plays but see if you can find a better player for the same money. Corey Perry makes less than Motte. Team needs to make better decisions IMO and hopefully this year is the start.

Bjudstad is decent but depends on the numbers.

I threw his name out because he adds some much needed size.
I think the Canucks biggest concern has to be the defense. Not sure if any other team has a worse mix.

A RW for how much?

He’s big no doubt but otherwise not much else.

No matter what name anyone throws out it will be turned down.

I remember last summer on CF I suggested Canucks go after Perry on a one year deal for a mil. That got so much flack basically people asking if I was on drugs. No matter what name anyone throws out it will get shot down.

That’s the way it is lol
Fans have lots of negativity & rarely any ideas that count. I’m no fan of adding size for size sake alone. Too often just plugs that struggle to stay in the line up. The problem is filling need at 3C & 4C before thinking wingers are the problem.

Sanford is interesting.

I am trying to remain optimistic about the Canucks, but everytime I look into some new players or transactions, I shake my head, because until the team does those changes this lineup remains stagnant.(and very shitty)

Thats funny, whenever I watch either one of them, I think it is the other guy, because they both play the same.
Also both were supposed to be pretty good players, but have been average bottom 6 players.

The team is going to be peaking when the young guys hit around 25 -27 . The main thing is not repeating the same mistakes again and again.

Having many voices to discuss things is a real positive . Changing a horrible system with experienced people is also a good step.

That is fine if it does as long as you make sure it's the winning shot.

Don't know if you're going to find a better player than Motte at his price. Energy, speed, PK, and some offense. One of the best forecheckers on the team. Out of the entire bottom 6 that was a regular this year, he's the best (which is saying something)

Would you take Perry at 750 K or Motte 1.2 M

I get peoples appreciation of Motte but he is not someone I want in my choice of a Bottom 6 .

I like Vegas and Islanders style of bottom 6 . I know Pageau is a smaller guy .

I would take Motte. Perry is fine, but of the two I think Motte is more impactful and will be with the team longer. I like how he plays, he just needs some better guys around him.

Not saying Perry wouldn't be a good fit on the team... would rather him than Sutter returning.

I heard an interesting stat. The last two year the final four teams have been Islanders TBL VGK and Corey Perry's team.

Every one has their choice. I would take Perry every day because of everything he brings.

Another interesting stat is that Jon Merrill's, Steven Stamko's, and Mark Stone's team have also been in the final four the last two years. Toffoli was one game away from that as well.

Corey Perry isn't leading his team last year or this year. He's a good cog for sure, probably an excellent voice in the room, but they're not there solely because of him.

I agree. Although I’m not a fan of him, Gillis set salary breakdown of the team how it was to be structured according to roles. Unfortunately to gain the player’s agreement he handed out ntc’s like nobody’s business.

I forget who said it (maybe Vintsy ) Sutter will end up in CGY . I don't think Canucks should try to match the offer.

What I find interesting is when rosters get built by ACGMs and you see Highmore Zack Motte Sutter Lind or whoever on it . You can't have change unless you move on from players. (Not directed at you).

You can go a different route of Zack Motte Highmore and so on and bring in a different bottom 6.

Does anyone know Markus Granlund’s contract status in the KHL?
