I'll be really pumped if the Isles beat the lightning as much as I can't stand them. Would be very happy seeing either a Habs or Fleury cup win given the Pens are out. |

Agreed. Any trades involving first round picks should be for guys under 25 with multiple years of control. Trading 1st round picks over the Crosby era has been hit or miss. I am going off of memory here, so if I miss anything...
2008 - Hossa (1/2 year)
2009 - Kept, Drafted Despres
2010 - Kept, Drafted Bennett
2011 - Kept - Drafted Harrington
2012 - Kept, Drafted Maatta. Also had 8th pick for Pouliot
2013 - Iginla (1/2 year)
2014 - Kept, Drafted Kapanen
2015 - Perron
2016 - Kessel
2017 - Reaves (acquired 2nd round pick)
2018 - Brassard
2019 - Kept, Drafted Poulin
2020 - Kapanen
2021 - Zucker
No doubt trading our pick in 2008, 2013, 2016, and possibly 2020 were worth it. We have actually kept more of our first round picks over the years than I thought. 2009-2012 having 5 first round picks turn into only 1 serious NHL player was the killer. The big miss on Pouliot hurts. - SuperHenderson13
What has Hextalls draft record been over the last few years? He is the reason I am more optimistic about keeping picks. |

Also Canadian and I would just love the anguish it would cause Leafs fans. Plus I got ripped for saying the Habs were going to do some damage in the playoffs here. |

There's hardly any French Canadians on them though haha... I dunno, I'm kinda indifferent to them. Lotta people I care about are diehard Habs fans so I'd be happy for them. I really don't want Tampa getting the prestigious back to back honors, especially not 15 mill over the cap haha, and fvck the Islanders... So Knights/Fleury or Habs are my preferences.. |

hahaha besides the Frenchies I met when I'd visit a best bud, who moved to and lived DT Montreal right next to Bell Centre, to watch Pens games and see concerts, he'd made friends with, I dont know any other French Canadians. Those guys and gals were awesome though. In Newfoundland its almost 50/50 Leafs/Habs fans...almost...quite a few Bruins fans around and to lesser extent Redwings fans. I know maybe 5 other Pens fans.
I guess if my city had a NHL team, or if I was diehard fan of an other Canadian team, I'd feel strongly against them winning it all. This talk is all a bit premature with them not playing a single game vs the Knights yet though haha.

I honestly don't know why French Canadians get such a bad rap. I have worked with a ton of people from Quebec and they were all awesome. Have also visited many times and always had a great experience with people.
I'm in Windsor, so there is a mix of about 40% Wings, 40% Leafs, 10% Habs and surprisingly quite a few Pens fans. Wings fans are the absolute worst, completely insufferable. Leafs fans are just hilariously bipolar (We are the best/We suck depending on the score of the last game).
There are a ton of kids in our neighborhood who are always sporting Pens gear... makes me happy. On the football side, there are TONS of Steelers fans around here because the Lions have sucked so badly for so long. |

Oh man hahah...horrible take article, except maybe Andersen...maybe....
https://thehockeywriters....adfG7LXWoVtVbFTDCJmNeBW7k - MattStrat
While I don't really want to chase any of those guys, Anderson is the only guy I for sure don't want. I could handle Simmonds or Bogosian on 1yr/$1M deals. I'm just really interested in seeing what kind of spots open up on the roster and what happens with Expansion. |

Hamilton given permission to talk to other teams. He’s would be a perfect fit in Pitt (or anywhere) but damn he’s gonna get a big contract. Big, strong, perfect replacement for Letang. If only he had one more year to coincide his contract with Letang s ending. |

Not that it matters to the Pens much but Dougie Hamilton already granted permission to talk to other teams. |

If they shed MM's, Petts and Marinos along with Ceci's cap hits (approx 14.5 mill) they can totally sign him haha. They would still have PO Joe, Friedman, Rikk and Rudy signed to go with Dumo and Letang, plus Hamilton of course.
Lets do it. |

hahah we are opposites on this. I would take Andersen on the cheap, if price is good and right, but want nothing to do with Simms or Boogs

Yeah there are a lot of kids/younger people around here that I dont know with Pens stuff on too and that's because they have Sid and been pretty successful the past 10 to 15 years. My 4 year old is a Pens fan but his timing is horrible haha. He's asked me about a hand full of times now since the loss to Isles why the Pens are out and cant play anymore this season haha so he doesn't quite get it all and by the time he does we'll be in rebuild and losing (frank) loads I imagine.

So that probably means they have a standing offer with Hamilton that they need him to decide on prior to expansion so they can solidify their protection list. I am guessing he is going to look for/get somewhere around $9M on a max term deal, very similar to Pietrangelo.
You know, the Pens could pull it off. Marino, Petterson and Zucker would need to be gone. Not sure what you do in net. Trade Jarry to Arizona with a decent prospect or pick for Keumper perhaps?
Question is, even if you can afford it, is Hamilton THAT guy? Do you max out on a bit of a quirky guy who is a really good player but has been passed around quite a bit already in his career (that usually happens for a reason). I'm not sure I would. |
