LOL the Leafs and Eichel
- Hank Balling

Yeah laughed at that to, but his point about the cap could be true. And Tampa gonna have trouble protecting everyone in the expansion draft, wouldn't mind seeing it Foote becomes available.

Well doesn't a player have to be with a team for a year to sign a max deal

Who did they sign?

No one yet, but when they draft or trade for a player LeBron said they are allowed to go Max with it if they choose to, said he didn't even know that.

If/when we trade Eichel and Reinhart, we should do everything possible to sign Landeskog, should he hit FA, as it seems all but certain he will.

Will be 29 next season, but he might be the most consistent and defensively responsible Power-Forward of the past decade.

Give him a 6 year deal, bringing him to 35, give him the "C" and do everything possible to sign this man.

Gotcha. I bet it’s an expansion first year rule for them. Prolly on players selected, not traded for I would assume

No apologies necessary, just saw something LeBron wrote and that he didn't even know that.

Be very surprised if he didn't resign right after the expansion draft, allows Colorado to protect someone else.

We can't have a team of all 22 year olds, are you mad? Landeskog is the one guy you shouldn't think twice about trying to bring here, despite being "that old".

You sign guys to short year contracts to fill the gap like we did with hall. Not do ANOTHER moulson, skinner or Okposo. How many times does it take until we learn our lesson

I think it is more specifically meant to target UFA / RFA players.
Traded or drafted players become their property immediately, so the 8 year term would apply in those circumstances if they are in their last year, where as the UFA / RFA players aren't their property until they are signed, so normally a team couldn't sign or resign those players to an 8 year deal once July 1st (15th?) hits.

It is interesting.

Sure, but these expansion teams are getting a lot of help right off the bat.

Yup.
Not sure who all the RFA / UFA players are this year, but his example of Hamilton ... or even a young G's like Sorokin or Saros ... dare say Reinhart even.
Go max term and reasonable contract value for a couple guys to jump start the team.

It’s their age. Very few players play good to they are 35. You want landeskog? Sign him to a 2 year 24 million deal. We will have the cap. Then when our core is ready we are done with him and move onto a guy that fits our timeline and have a good cap.

You know why teams aren’t keeping guys them selfs? Because they sign dumb contracts on other guys until they are 35

there are several nhl players producing in their 30's and I have seen nothing to show landeskog is falling off the moulson or okposo cliff

you can lose eichel and reinhart and still be a fringe playoff team with the right coach, goalie and 2 or 3 smart additions sooner rather then later

I would take Greenway if the Wild can't protect him, he would bring some much needed snarl to this team.
- Buff36

You do know that issue with Greenway was getting him to play to his size? Why do you assume he has snarl, because he is big? Good kid, with mammoth size and skill set, but hardly the “snarly” type. Not saying I wouldn’t want him on my team, but you’re not getting Tom Wilson.
