It's amazing how many teams beat themselves with the Expansion Draft, Pittsburgh among them. I'd have to look, but if we traded Murray and kept MAF protected, I wonder who Vegas would've taken. I'd guess Rust or Sheary.
Not sure if an expansion team becoming a powerhouse in its first years is a huge success or failure for the NHL... I could see it both ways. |

Dillon sucks. - Blackstrom2
He's pretty average. People are enamorated with him. I don't know why. Maybe because he fights? |

Huge success because it creates a new fan base they stays interested for longer than a year or two after the cool new factor wears off. |

Oh I agree but he’s overrated and a recent signing so using that as kind of a baseline. |

I'd hope Seattle would look at him, but if the reports about them going heavy analytics is true, they will probably stay away. |

We don't need to give away McCann to trade Zucker.
Matheson has been a steady 2nd pairing D.
The rest I agree on. - Barnaby36
I'm going with Barnaby on this one. If Zucker is the no-brainer selection we shouldn't be adding. Plus I actually like McCann for his cap hit. Might even be getting Geno's PP time again to start the season which he did well with. |

I was dumping $21m to fit in $12m worth of goalies and to sign 3 UFAs. Is Tatar and Coleman not an upgrade on Zucker and McCann? |

I agree and Rikk also plays with an edge, he's a good hard hitter...and he's cheap against the cap. One person not being talked about is Friedman and he's a Hex boy...I really think he's in Hex's plans and I think he's fine for the 3rd pair as well. This is why I want to shed a lot of D money because I think the Pens have 4 guys already signed for next season who can handle the 3rd pair effectively and maybe even 2nd pair...at least for stints. - MattStrat
Yeah. I think the Pens can strip down the defense, re-sign Ceci and still be effective. As long as POJ isn't playing the top pair I think he'll be solid.

Sheary was exempt. Rust was the guy everyone was worried Vegas might pick until we found out about the Fleury deal.
Before that, I thought Vegas would take a younger back-up with starter potential like Grubauer. |

I'm not so sure but I'd be willing to bring in Tatar in place of Zucker and Coleman for the bottom lines. |

I'm awaiting the Dallas stars front office to start chiming in. And yes, the Zucker trade looks weird, but it's similar to what I expect Hextall to do, not what I would do. - Rinosaur
That all looks great to me except Ceci in that role all season.... |

The D placement is arbitrary, but he basically did that most of the year.
The Bishop trade was a trolling move FYI. |

Plans that hinge on signing 2 UFAs at the price you set rarely work. I'd just leave it at moving Zucker. I like the extra center depth McCann provides especially with Malkin set to miss 2 months or so.
I like Coleman as a target. I'd actually plan to leave 3 LW as a soft competition for a prospect to clear space. I would really like a RW to play with Guentzel and Crosby. |

Sure I get that but I think it’s realistically the best path to roster turnover. |

I figured Ceci showed enough in the playoffs that everyone would agree it’s time to move on. |

I was saying I didnt want him back during the regular season, let alone after game 6 vs Isles. He was fine to good this past season but I think he'll want a raise now, one I dont want to the Pens to give at all. |

Honestly, I hope not. Caps are (frank)ed either way with Backstrom's, Carlson's, and once they sign Ovechkin to his dumb ass contract, so might as well keep one of the few good players, no matter if his contract sucks. His isn't the only one. |
