They did, and look where they ended up lol.

Insert 5 or 6 rookies into the full time roster, and you can't expect to be the same team you were the previous year.

Missed Seguin this season, it's hard to miss one of your best players. 5 games above Van.

Van used 12 rookies this season.

Doesn’t sound a lot different than our season. Difference is some ppl ignore last season cuz it destroys their narrative. A cinderella run doesn’t match up the next season if facts get in the way.
- Nighthawk

We played one rookie full time.

Lockwood, gadjovic, Rathbone, lind got their toes wet. Juolevi played when the cap allowed for it. Could you imagine if all 5 or 6 of those players played all 56? We'd be picking a lot higher than 9th overall lol, we would have finished much worse IMO

Excuses are facts that you didn’t find a way to overcome.

Was a Covid outbreak a factor that could affect the team? What did your team do to make sure you didn’t deal with an outbreak? Did it work? If you did have a positive case what did you do?

Was the divisional realignment something that a team could have anticipated during the off season? What did your team do to prepare for that eventuality?

Does the league send out the schedule to each team for approval prior to the commencement of the season? What did your team do to make sure that players weren’t exposed to excessive games/day, that there would be time for practice etc?

Last season, the team had a good 4 week run in the thingy, other than that, the team was very inconsistent and relied heavily on goaltending to bale them out.
I am not sure the Canucks would have had "last season", if it weren't for the shutdown due to the pandemic.
The team was definitely not looking like a playoff calibre team and only made it into the thingy, due to an expanded set-up.

It 100% hurts to not have your best player, but good teams find a way. Tampa found a way without kucherov. Montreal found a way without price and Gallagher. Malkin was gone for 19 or 20 games

Ya, I thought that was funny, then they show Landeskog changing.

Although, I do believe there is a rule that might be something like that, I seen it during the regular season.

The rule is if the opposing team shoots it from their side of center and your goalie covers it, you can't change (ie. the goalie should have played it but didn't)

Yup maybe but I wanted the kids to play. The UFA’s leaving & the covid schedule was an opportune time to get them experience. Once the slow start happened it was ripe to do it. The covid break doubly so.

I didn’t see what you guys are talking about, but they introduced a rule that if you shoot the puck in from your own side of center and the puck goes out of play the face off comes back (like icing)

That was shades of Rinne - reaching across with the glove to make what should be a simple deflection into a nightmare goal.

They inserted 5 rookies and lost some very good players in free agency. Was anyone expecting Dallas to be the same contender they were last year? Who here had Dallas even making the playoffs pre-covid outbreak in Dallas.

Again, every team dealt with covid (some more than others). Teams dealt with star player injuries. Dallas played a bunch of young players and people are suddenly shocked they weren't the same?

Also, facts CAN be excuses. They become excuses when every other team in the league is dealt the same hand.

Covid, flat cap, condensed schedule. Was covid tougher on some teams than others? For sure. Was the schedule tougher on some teams than others? For sure. Does any of the facts or excuses that have been thrown around since the csnucks closed the season 24th overall excuse what this team truly is, which is not a good playoff team, no, they don't.

- Codes1087

Thats funny because 2 of those rookies replaced the production for every player they lost combined.

If by "very good players " you mean Perry and Polak? then no they didn't

Who was expecting Dallas to miss the playoffs??? links??

Except not every team dealt with full covid team outbreak, losing their best player and poor schedule.

Sounds like ‘82 cup run. Lousy team finished the year as the hottest team. Swept by NYI. Later fans said a fluke cuz look who lost. Oil caved to LAK like it was an excuse. Everybody forgot every series was 1 loss or less til they ran into the dynasty. Typical of Van fans to be negative about anything.

Cmon .

Name one other team that had to play 1/4 of their schedule three time zones away ?

How many teams played 13 games in 26 nights to start the season? In that time they had two road trips.

When all things are equal among all 31 teams then excuses have no place but if you are at a disadvantage that not one other team had then it is an issue.

A little too fancy. I hope the Avs win, but after watching him for the last couple of years, I'm really liking that Whitecloud kid. He's a solid Dman.

So who's fault is it that they lost their best players? Unless youre again talking about injury, which I've already gone over 10x prior.

Considering they didn't win another playoff series until 1992 I'd say it was totally a fluke.

Again, all those things could have been factored into summer decisions. I knew that there would be no cross border games, how did the division surprise them? When the schedule came out and we all said “man that’s a brutal schedule” and we hear later that Jim saw the schedule and just thought everyone else had the same kind of schedule so he approved it… come on yourself.

The Jets had to play every away game in a different time zone. Both Calgary and Edmonton played most of their games in another time zone. It’s the same every year for teams on the west coast.
