And don’t let the knuckleheads start running out he’s not been as great as he was… Dude literally had to pitch a shutout to get wins…. That’s how anemic our offense was and is presently….
He lead the league and was top 4 or 5 for 3 yrs just yesterday in GSAa% with a insane #
With the way Leafs can score he might literally never lose.
And I get to watch Willy play with Comtois & bury sweet apples from Z for the next decade on a legit 1st line. - dozerD10

Maybe, I certainly would have never signed a goalie for 10M a season, so I get with Columbus wouldnt have gone that high in the first place. - Archaic
That’s what I mean, he should have taken a little less and stayed with a team that propped him up and made him look like a $10m goalie.

So many players underestimate the value on sticking with a team where it just... works.
Because it can so easily fall apart.

Grubauer
Vasilevskiy
Varlamov
Price
Do you see a trend here?
Build from the crease - mr.sir
Vasilevskiy
Binnington
Holtby
Murray
Crawford
Those are the last 5 cup winning goalies (Murrary got 2). 2 rookie goalies, 2 past Venza winners, and Crawford who was a good goalie but never really in discussion for top goalie in the NHL, but made they saves when needed.
Both rookie goalies have gotten worse with every year, and neither Venza winner goalie actually won it the year they put up their best numbers.
Based on the past 5 cup winners, you could win the cup with a venza winning goalie, a rookie goalie that other teams haven't figure out yet, or a decent goalie that makes the timely saves.
The one thing all those teams had in common was their top line produced in the playoffs, the leafs didn't.

That’s the problem we can trade D and goalies but not forwards… Terry is one of the few guys that has offensive ability…
Manson and Gibson for Willie and Robertson…
Although Marner is a great player I got no interest in him at that number… |

Nah, the Leafs need low cost fowards like Robertsen. Unfortunately there likely is no fit between the teams. I like Gibson alot too.

Santo: 'Price is a washed up goalie'.
Santo after Habs win against Leafs - with Price being a big part of that win: 'Yes, he had a few good games, but very unlikely he will be able to repeat vs Jets'.
SANTO clearly has no (frank)ing clue about how good hockey players are...
Vrana is a good player, and better than Mantha for sure. - MaximusAurelius

Think he'll be bought out?
Would be costly as hell but it's better than paying Bob 10M to be a backup to Knight.

You’d think hockey people could also notice a lot of goalies are propped up with a well coached defensive team and not get sucked in. |

You only watch Leafs games? Plenty of good hockey still being played.
That Colorado/Vegas series is especially crazy.
