I fully expect Robertson, Anderson, Liljegren and Sandin to be full time Leafs next season.. |

Vegas didn't add just character guys. Mark Stone is best forward on the team, He pushed every one else down a peg. If we are talking about just building a team to win for one year, I'd trade anyone on the leafs not named Matthews for Stone. Then they also added a Star defender in Pietrangelo, who also pushed all their defensemen down a peg. You make it sound like they are adding guys like what the leafs tried to do with Foligno, Simmonds, Thornton etc. They are adding star players year after year since their first year. They've added 30 goals in Pacioretty, a PPG winger in Stone, and a legitimate # 1 defensemen in Pietrangelo. They even went out and signed another # 1 goalie in Lehner. - r8edr
Mark stone would be the best forward on about 25 teams.
also worth noting, sometimes you get lucky.. they wanted MAF gone.
he is a big reason they are so good |

Me too.
You need young guys taking on important roles on your team at low cost to be successful.
Leafs need to bet on the guys they drafted and developed the last few years to fill some holes. |

Some around here said Caufield wasn't ready before the playoffs. They were dead wrong.
You won't know until you give the kid a chance. Robertson has plenty of talent but needs to be put in a position to succeed. - Scabeh
Robertson scored a goal against CBJ last year in the play-in round.. I think he'll be just fine. |

Big fan of Mark Stone as well.
And yeah, they couldn't even give MAF away last year. Look at him go now.

I think so too.
Without his injury, I think he would have gotten a longer look as a regular for the Leafs.

If I had to guess Robertson would slide in at LW on the 2nd or 3rd line and Joey Anderson as a 3rd or 4th line RW.
I think Sandin can handle 2nd pairing minutes and put Liljegren on the 3rd pairing..
the kids need a chance to prove their worth |

Yes, that is correct.
No one has to be right here. I am willing to trade prospect capital(unknown potential) for an impact player. Not a fringe player. - Santo_44
That's fine - let me know when you figure out who this 'impact player' is because right now all everyone is reading is you wanting to trade Robertson and without knowing who for many of us are not in agreement with that in principle at all.
Robertson making league minimum is a huge + for the Leafs if he can play top 6, hell actually in the top 9. I mean in the admittedly short time he has played with the Leafs he seems more than capable of playing in the top 9, does anyone actually think Robertson on even the 3rd line is a downgrade from (god love him but) stone hands Mikheyev or Giraffe?
I'll say he is in the starting line up next year for the Leafs and plays there all year long barring a trade or injury - they simply need him to be.

You can not give anything and still 'get' from the guy you are willing to give.

Play him on the 2nd line with Tavares and Nylander/Marner

I like Mark Stone a great deal but I don't think he would be the best forward on (or about) 25 teams.
Hell, on some teams he may not even be the 2nd best forward. |

When you consider that maybe the Leafs are not 'one piece' away from winning, I think keeping Robertson is the safe and smart choice. However, if Dubas feels like in order to get Seth Jones he needs to include Nick Robertson, I would think he'd do that trade |

Big fan of Sandin. I know he made costly mistakes in the playoffs but that will happen with young defensemen. He'll be an important player for you guys.
I'm not as convinced about Liljegren but I feel this year he either cracks the lineup or gets traded away.

The Leafs were one piece away from winning the first round. Unfortunately, John Tavares got himself injured. |

I gave them 5 tries at wining 1 round
you have to look at your options now.

If you’re not into win now with the top goal scorer and one of the top point guys in the league hitting their prime, with their captain right at the outer edge of it, with the defence in good shape for the first time in forever and with Willie just stunningly good looking, I’m not sure what we looking for. That doesn’t mean we need to to trade away prospects but this is a pretty good time to take a shot. |

That's what you said when I was arguing against trading a first round pick for a rental player.
You can plan on winning now while simultaneously holding onto high picks and prospects to extend the window of opportunity.
Right now, given the fact that this team has had zero playoff success - I would prefer they work to extend the window than shorten it hoping to go from perennial first round losers to cup champs in a season or two.

Such a great young player. A steal of a 7th round pick!
Hope he plays in round 3.
