How much do guys you think Landeskog gets on the open market? - Rinosaur
There is no chance he will hit the market but he would get $8-9M per on a max term deal. I think he would be a coveted player that several teams would be willing to overpay for. |

I wish we would have traded for Blake Coleman instead of Zucker.... and I still really like Zucker. He is very effective at forechecking and winning puck battles. But I do see the issue of too many "like-minded" forwards and think need at least one player who is a good net-front guy.
I dont see E. Kane being realistic given the locker room/character issues (whether they have merit or not)
Getzlaf is still a super long shot to get him to leave ANA.
Kreider is staying put in NY.
I can't see a Jamie Benn to Pittsburgh trade that makes sense.
Kopitar, Gallagher, Tkachuk, Landeskog aren't going anywhere.
Even second tier guys... Josh Anderson was just traded... Miles Wood is probably staying put for a while
Unless we can clone a 25 year old Chris Kunitz.....I think this could become a wild goose chase for Hextall and Burke. -youmeandupuis9
Blake Coleman will be a ufa in a couple weeks and Tampa will very unlikely be able to retain him unless they pull another kuch but two of them.
Gallagher is 5’9” so Jake could just learn to play his game and stop being a female dog. Unfortunately there isn’t much out there for big rough forwards. I expect very little change and us to get annoyed with hextall’s patience. |

As bad as he was, Zucker still prorated out to 19.4 G and 38.8 Pts. A bounce back season ends up looking pretty good.
Probably doesn't happen here, but I am going to predict 25 and 50 over a full season for Zucker. - Tojo.
Those numbers are what we expect of our fourth line players.
Seriously though, 50 points would be Zucker's second best season of his career. If we don't expect 26 and 27 year olds to improve, why would we expect a 29 year old to have a career year.

Not sure what else you can ask of him. He was in the slot the whole series, was just snake bitten. Not like he was shooting from the outside the whole time.

Probably not, but I'm just curious what he'll command. If the Avs win the cup this year and teams are willing to be dumb and offer him the $8+ price tag to last the rest of his career, I could see him looking elsewhere. |

He could quit being a little female dog lying on the ice in the corner looking at the ref like a 5 yr old who dropped his ice cream on the sidewalk. Jake can be very effective. But without someone causing chaos and giving him some room he will continue to be snake bitten in the playoffs. With rust trying to be a scorer instead of a grinder there’s no one to run amok and get Jake or Sid space to get a solid shot while not being physically impeded somehow. Because I guarantee almost all those right in the slot were not great opportunities aside from the fact they are in the HD area. |

How does jags being a d bag personality wise get spun into xenophobia?
RW logic, I guess.
I have never seen even the faintest hint of anti-foreign bias from the Pens organization. Back in the late 90's it seemed like a third of the team was Czech and of course the Pens had Ivan Hlinka for their coach for a few years (whom I think is still the only non-US/Canadian born coach in league history). The team has also been very understanding and supportive of Malkin throughout the years.
I do think the league (not the team) has an anti-Malkin bias but that is directed at Malkin and not Russians in general. It seemed to start the year that Malkin was injured and couldn't play in the all-star game. It seemed like the nhl thought he was just blowing it off and the fact that he missed games after the break due to injury didn't matter. They haven't picked him for an all star game since, they left him off of that "100 greatest of all time" or whatever it was, and it seems like if he sneezes the wrong way the refs call a penalty against him. Most of the penalties he gets he deserves but there are a fair number of borderline ones that I think other players would not have gotten. Of course this is the league - not the team. |

Fans of other teams don't like him because he's sneaky dirty and rarely gets called on it. His "accidental" slew foots and elbows frequently go uncalled, and it's maddening that he gets away with it.
Also, as a Flyers fan first and foremost, I know something or other about dirty plays and players (see: Dave Brown and Tomas Sandstrom) |

Guentzel for Bertuzzi - Feds91Stammer
Getting warmer...
On the surface, hell no. Guentzel's chemistry with Sid makes him even more valuable than he actual is.
But our number 1 problem in the playoffs has been scoring. Not scoring in the regular season...scoring in the playoffs.
Guentzel is a proven goal scorer in the playoffs, despite getting shoved around. However, I think Bertuzzi actually would help Sid and Rust score more when things tighten up in the playoffs.
For that, and the sheer reason that good physical players are increasingly difficult to come by, let alone fairly young ones, makes me at least think.
If you wanna get crazy, let's add add Vrana and whatever it takes from Pittsburgh side into a mega deal. |

No - I just get a chuckle out of ridiculously moronic blanket statements.
That’s why I thought he may work for a local college - that’s usually where you get stuff like that.
Not to mention...is it smart to make some back handed political statement aimed mostly at the the people who read your opinions? |

Got to listen to the Brian Burke interview on the way home today. 1. Madden is the only guy that should interview anyone about hockey in Pittsburgh. No beating around the bush, came straight through with the tough questions. 2. I don’t think any honest player or coach should have any problem playing under a team Burke is involved with. He fired right back supporting his coaches and players and “penguins hockey”, while also somewhat sticking to his guns about size and toughness. |

He was not snake bitten he was taking poopty shots while being knocked to the ice by bigger men. It’s crazy how no one will give the Islanders any credit for anything. Haha. |

Of the Penguins wingers:
Rust - He'd be my #2 guy to trade. Not sure he gives us a discount to resign and we cannot afford to lose him for nothing.
Jake - Only a good hockey trade would make sense here. The problem is lots of teams arent looking for a Jake let alone pay a premium for. If the right 1 for 1 or 2 for 1 trade came, I'd pull the trigger. Id also have no problem with him here next year.
Zucker - He isnt a bad player, but if he doesnt get taken by Seattle, trade him.
Kapanen - Really like Kapanen. I think he can be used better next season.
McCann - a guy you love when he is scoring, a guy you dont notice much when he isnt scoring/setting up Carter. I have no problem with him here next season.
Gaudreau - Earned a new contract, maybe multiple years... but I hope it isnt Pittsburgh that gives it to him. We need this spot filled by one of Legare or Poulin.
Tanev/ZAR - they played well and add something to the team. wouldnt be shocked if Seattle takes one of them. |
