It's basically just grunts and contractors that get fired. Everyone else is an HR nightmare to get rid of so you're basically stuck begging them to leave by giving them a new position you don't think they'll want. - Victoro311
It’s ridiculous. Everywhere I’ve been I get stuck behind dinosaurs that I outproduce while simultaneously (frank)ing around on here half the day. |

To be fair, tech has made it absurdly easy to tip the scales to "life' in the work life balance and that's something that the older generations just never learned how to do. The one good legacy of this whole COVID thing will be abolishing the 5 days a week 9-5 office culture that will allow those of us who know how to efficiently take care of business to only work like five hours or less work days. |

The old heads of our parent company want everyone back to the office full time in September. I’m milking every last bit of this work from home. |

Thankfully we're just moving to hybrid system. I just don't know yet if it's two or three days and it's so (frank)ing arbitrary. Accounting/Finance has no real need to be in the office aside for occasional team/work office stuff.

The US Gov has been shockingly open to hybrid scheduling. Or at least they are generally not in a rush to get back to full office capacity. It also helps that I'm transferring over to California which will be the absolute last state to reopen, but even here in DC where they've pursued a shockingly aggressive reopening policy for a blue area, the government remains fairly coy. |

Best part is I’m part of a 5 person team that works out of 3 different states. |

Absolutely. I do not want to raise a family in the DMV. |

Similar situation to mine. Plus, in accounting/finance, we do not have steady work. Heavy workload in the first two weeks, dead the second two weeks. So much of the second half is planning more than actual work.

Yeah similar here. I have maybe 5-7 busy days in a month. |

My company just used COVID as an excuse to offer voluntary buyouts to older employees to get them to retire. Worked pretty well too. Opened up enough positions that we restructured the departments and everyone is situated better now. It was a lot better than laying people off. |

San Diego. So the best part. The one major city in the state that's actually open to devilment and urban density and doesn't whine about high rents while also aggressively pursuing NIMBY policies. |

First ten business days are insane for us. We have so many departments reporting to us and some are in the west coast, so it's a finicky timing game, but then it just drops off.

It’s pricey like all of Cali but yeah probably one of if not the best large US city to live in especially family wise. |

I did not see that Tampa series ending after five games. It was a much closer series than the results would suggest, but just didn't see that coming. - Rinosaur
It's almost like Tampa has some sort of advantage that didn't show itself during the regular season for some reason

My new team is seeing me sunrise beach pictures during my on boarding to "convince me I made the right decision". Dawg I grew up on the beach and now I'm stuck in what's basically an inlet swamp. You don't need to send me this porn. I know. |

It's less expensive than DC. DC and the DMV in general is literally the worst bang for your buck area of the Union. Been basically trying to make it home for the past few years because its where I thought I needed to be for my niche industry. The second I got offered an out, I was out.
And yeah, as a Florida guy that now lives in Greenville definitely understand why you say its expensive as all hell. I think back at the prices I grew up with in SC and I just can't comprehend them.
It basically comes down to we probably won't be able to afford to buy a home in the city. Would we rather raise a family in the SoCal burbs or (frank)ing McClean Virginia? Its a bit of a no contest. |

Haha yeah houses here are well below Tampa and the job market is as good or better. I’m not in the city either. Give me the quiet neighborhood and half acre lot all day. |

Greenville rules. I'm grew up hating SC but I never had a bad word to say about that particular town. Clemson people have become insufferable with their new money style college football success, but that's all the negative I have to say about that area. |

Welcome to SEC country but the ACC. And I can't harp on them too much because that fan base has always been die hard since I can remember they just had never won anything. It was the fake USC fans that I grew up hating because they're a historically trash program that in CF terms had only recently joined the SEC and would always talk about themselves like they would be the cream of the crop in literally any other conference besides the SEC. Salt on the wound would be when they'd mock me by proudly talking about how they forced Holtz out for Spurier. Granted, right move, but Spurier is literally the only good thing that has happened to that program and they talk like they have some storied history because they saw a couple of 10 win seasons int he aughts. (frank) 'em. |

Oh I grew up around hardcore UF and FSU people. They all came and went depending on the CF success. |
