so many people wanted him gone during the regular season, but it's easy to forget he was given the job in a rather peculiar context... I doubt the team would be playing this way if he was such an awful coach, the pressers might be awkward at times but if the results are there who gives a (frank)

he was put in a very difficult situation. no training camp, no practice time, injuries, covid, impossible schedule... everyone would understand a loss in the first round againts the first place Leafs. and here he is a W away from the final 4.

and nothing prevents them from bringing in a more experienced guy as assistant coach, if interesting options are available

In fairness, the Habs have caught a lot of breaks in these last 2 series, and while this one is over, it looks pretty done.

Will be interested to see how DD responds to a situation where he doe snot get the breaks. Not saying he has to win to prove himself, but he has to show he can adjust and at least make it harder on the opposition.

it's easier when Price plays like he does now, obviously. but imo DD outcoached both Keefe and Maurice.

Keefe did absolutely nothing if you ask me. Never adapted.

yeah I guess no matter how you look at it the sample size is just too small... but his winning record as a career coach combined with the way he made adjustments during the leafs series and how the team is doing against the jets right now tells us there's a strong chance he knows what he's doing

Agreed.

And he made some pretty unpopular calls that turned out to be the right ones.

That Colorado/Vegas series is insane.

its like the habs/jets were on slow motion. the pace is incredible.

sure, but forget Price. DD went with 4 Ds, benched Tatar for Evans and Lek... Keefe did nothing, and Maurice isn't doing much more. imho

yup. keefe's plan is made for the regular season. When it doesn't work in the playoffs he just hopes it starts working again

yup... and when you think about it MB might've had a lot less influence in the decision process than what everyone was reporting, it's possible it was all Ducharme's call after all lol

Keefe was on record saying he did not care who is out against his top lines and won't adjust to that, before the series started. And he was true to his word.

Well, pretty easy to out-coach stupid.

this series carey has barely broke a sweat. the habs 5 man units have been outstanding in this series. i can barely recall how many open looks the jets are getting per game. price has had to make maybe 3 tough saves per game. every player on the ice is doing their job. habs have owned the neutral zone. puck support is a (frank)ing clinic.

I agree, but it’s not saying much about Keefe honestly. He didn’t make any changes or adapt at all. Just stuck with his initial plan. Hate coaches like that.
