Both of them were excellent picks, same can be said for Rathbone, he looks good.

Maybe some of those kids just from 2016 to 2018 just need more time to develop because 2014 and 2015 produced Gaudette, Tryamkin and Forsling beyond the 1st round, which is pretty decent.

I thought the odds were stacked up against him because of his size, they actually were, but he worked his way thru that and looks to be a fantastic pick!

I swear the only reason he's not firing him is because he'd look like a fool for just extending him AND because they're cheap. The success of the organization isn't as important as not looking like a fool and saving money.

I'm starting to question the whole "JB is an amazing drafter".

2014 - Virt, McCann, Demko, Forsling (3/4 of those players no longer with the team)
2015 - Boes, Brisebois, Gaudette, Jasek
2016 - OJ, Lockwood
2017 - Petey, Lind, Gadj, DiPietro, Rathbone
2018 - Hughes, Woo
2019 - Podkolzin, Hoglander, Focht

There are a lot of high end talents on the team, but the narrative of him being such a great drafter you would think he'd be unearthing more gems in the later rounds.

Like someone said earlier, maybe it's a time thing for them to develop. But players like Lind and Gadj are reaching that bubble of making it or not, and if these players don't start to make the bottom 6 or bottom pairing, how much has he done outside the first round for being such a great drafter?

Apparently drafting 6th-23rd-5th-5th-7th-10th-no pick-9th over eight drafts equals "I need two more years". How many other NHL teams have had six top 10 picks over the past eight drafts? Maybe Buffalo?

Here in HB you have a nice little social group of 25 which most of you think is 5000 strong. About 17 of you are whiney pissy people who complain day after day about most everything in life.

In the real world most fans don't even know you exist and for the ones that do they call you the dungeon of Canucks fans ( actual quote from a respected hockey person)

When I seen a photo the other day on social media of ten protesters at GM arena with the banner Fire Benning and the megaphone , my very first thought was "I see HB finally organized their picnic"

So as this small group goes on day after day of complaining and telling us about their apathy day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day day after day I will gladly stay out of this thread and not comment seeing I really want no part of it.

I do think some of you do need to go shower very quickly and wash that sand out of your vagina .

For the record I am not a Benning or Green apologist I am fine for change just don't throw out some reshuffled name of a person that has failed somewhere else.

For the record I said Canucks would finish top 10 right after the bubble and before the new divisions were formed. Soon as that division was formed I said I hated it before a game was played. I said it has Canucks as the only team playing a quarter of its schedule three time zones away. No other team had that travel .

For the record can someone tell Neem I said Suzuki was ok this year and he would be really good in a couple of years , but he does have 3 goals so I guess he is a superstar.

Jesus man, there are no Benning apologists, where do you see anyone apologizing for Benning. There are certainly hundreds of Benning bashes, ad nauseas, 500 posts a day here, but we still need to hear hyperbole about non existent Benning apologists.

You people need to realize he is the GM, again, we all want change but it didn’t come about. Same with the entire coaching staff, they are all coming back.

So suck it up buttercup and deal with it, at least get some new bloody material.

I started wondering about his drafting in 2016 when he took 20 year old Rodrigo About in the 7th round. It was like, I don't know who to take, I will just pick this guy.
Rodrigo would have become a free agent as soon as the draft was done, so about an hour after drafting him.
I know it might seem like nothing, but you have to take a shot with all picks. Some kids were still available that I thought were worth a shot, like Thurkauf, Ronning and Sompii(sp), instead of a pick that you could have signed an hour later.
Then the Manukyan pick was another headscratcher. He is lost after the 4th.
