Hoping to terminate Jake tbh.
Tired of him & his act.

Holtby yes if seeking cap space but idk. Who backs up Demko?

I bury LE & Roussel in Abby to either force retiring or mentor kids.

So many things can happen with Jake. You also have to remember at this time he is just facing civil charges , no criminal charges have been pressed so it is possible he is still on the team.

The thing I am trying to get at is anything is possible. If you wanted Armia and it was going to cost 3 mil you could look at moving Loui to a team with a lot of cap space and retain 3 mil . That means the other team would need to pay no real money and only give up 3 mil of cap space for probably a third round pick. So in actuality you would be getting Armia a free agent for the cost of salary and a third round pick . Better than nothing.

Doesn’t work that way. You can retain up to 50%, but cap hit and salary are separate, so it would be 50% of each. That might not be a lot of actual dollars, but it isn’t none.

Did not know that so it would cost the other team 1.5 mil.

None of it will probably happen I was just pointing out to NH that any problem one can throw at the Canucks there is an answer.

Me I think there is a 50/50 chance we actually draft 9 th OA . I can see a real possibility of them trying to get Reinhart.

In theory it is fine . I read that Hyman refused 5 mil from the Leafs he wants more , so your 4.8 probably won't work.

I am not a fan of Larsson but I can see why you chose him .

A free agent I like is Armia . Good size and Speed.
You never know could even have Podz in the bottom 6 ( Nah)
A player like Greenway could be the # 8 on the protection list and a trade.

Lots of things could happen except bringing back the same guys . The GM can't make a big speech two weeks prior about changes and the only change is to add a prospect.

No cap space for free agents. They spent it all on the Pearson extension.

Although I didn’t support the Pearson signing, they literally paid him a 3rd liners salary. He isn’t stopping any important signings

I hope not, but I agree, Jim will do anything to save his job and make the playoffs.

I think the actual cheapest way to deal with Lui is Abbotsford. 1.1m cap savings is a net plus to buying him out. I think it would cost more than a 3rd to trade him. Just give it one more year of pain.

Beagle will play or not, same with Rous.

Team is going to look pretty similar IMO.

1st point I disagree.

2nd point most likely happens 👍

3rd point both should be replaced.

Last point the roster will change dramatically from the beginning of last season to the start of next season.

Unless he continues to regress and can’t keep up anymore - becoming the next Gagner, Bärtschi, Beagle etc.

I mean, if you’re talking about Veesey, Boyd etc then yeah, I agree, “lots of change”.

Under contract - Beagle, Roussel, Pearson, Miller, Horvat, Motte, Ferland, Boeser, Höglander, Virtanen.

Of that group, Virtanen won’t be back and Ferland will still be injured. Add Pettersson and that’s 9 of 12 forwards.

Defense - Myers, Schmidt, Joulevi, Rarhbone.

Add in Hughes and likely Edler.

Not much different and not a lot of $ to make any significant changes.

I agree. Ride it out with Loui. If they can't terminate, buyout Jake. It's not going to be pleasant for him to play here ever again.

Jake is self destructive. He wasted his career like a kid in a candy store with their allowance.

3 of 12 F’s minimum replaced.
5 LHD won’t happen.
Leaves my guess 2 more added.

That is at least 4-5 new bodies which is a substantial amount.

Resign Hamonic makes a lot of sense. After that I can only hope or guess but Highmore will get a shot. Pod is a definite add. New 3C is a must. Lockwood & Lind will get a chance in camp to make the team. MacEwen my guess to Seattle.

Trades & UFA’s still to come.

I think they will get a year or two more and as the team turns the corner they’ll have to figure out what to do with him in the third year.

I thought Jim and Green should have been gone for different reasons. I Thought the hole dug for and by Benning was too deep. I think no fans in the bldg saved his job but can easily be started up again with an early losing streak. So I think he will be swinging for the fences.

I like Ryan Johnson and him moving to the same bidg is the main reason I want one more year of Jim. No one knows the operations (good or bad ) better than Benning so I would like him to show RJ how things are done.

Green I just did not think he or the other coaches were good enough.

I agree with your thoughts on Loui Beagle and Roussel . I think they all have played their last game as a Canuck. I thought when Beagle and Roussel signed their contracts 3 years ago , I felt there is no way they play the final year and I think they wont.

I think with Beagle it should be straight forward. Aft.er July first bonus he will make 1.2 . I believe every player loses or pays back 20 %?

So he will be playing the remainder of the year for 960K and pay 37 % tax and 50 K to his agent. Pile on another 50 K for expenses it will come in around half a mil.

If I was Jim I would have The Talk and ask him if he wants to train every day to go play in Abby or would he like to stay on LTIR with his sore neck

This whole Benning getting fired talk is tiresome, Aquillini has shown nothing but support for Jim during this past season.

Seems like some fans are just trying to speak it into existence.

I understand fans frustrations but all too often they pick on somebody looking for a scapegoat. Over the decades nothing changes. Fans have the least patience & most of the problem most of the time. They should get behind the team like they’re on the team. More to supporting than opening the wallet. That gets old
