That was great! Thanks a lot for laying it out so simply like that, very much appreciated.

Let's hope for a big splash!

Oh man…

Rust for Kassian and a first you can kiss my ass. Oilers don’t need right wingers if you have not been paying attention.
RNH is going to want way too much to be a 3C. He is a top 6 player and if he can be signed as our 2LW to play with Drai and Yam around 5-5.5 then fine.
Barry was a decent pp guy but that’s it. Not worth anything close to 6.5. If Holland signs him for that he should be taken to the woodshed immediately.
Hoffman has zero interest in coming to Edmonton.
The vast majority of oil fans are concerned with Holland and his decision. He should be gone but won’t be.

Thanks for trying though.

Agree on Nuge at those $, and agree on Barrie. Had a good year to pump his value, and now he can go be a fiscal burden somewhere else where he will be overpaid. Nurse can run the PP, or Klef if he returns, until Bouchard has had some playing time to eventually take on the role. Also concerned about Holland being too passive, but I certainly don't want to see any more impulse overpays coming here either.

I think Bryan Rust is a guy who would do great alongside McDavid or Drai on the right side. Ideal fit in being able to mesh and excel with superstar players. Pens would take Kassian and your first (or a second and 4th).

Am I the only one that thinks RNH should absolutely be re-signed, but to be your 3C? You need to be able to roll 3 lines that can score if you want to make a cup run.

Not sure why you wouldn't resign Barry.... he was outstanding and while he will cost $6.5M probably, Bouchard isn't coming in and anchoring that powerplay at anywhere near the same proficiency. Just seems like a no brainer. Larson should be expendable.

Buyout Koskinen. I'd love to send you Jarry, but more likely you guys are going to go for a bigger fish. Maybe Grubbaer, Merzlikins or Keumper.

Hoffman might be a nice pickup for scoring depth.

If I was an Oilers fan though, I would be really concerned about Hollands perceived lack of urgency heading into the offseason. Any picks or prospects who can't contribute either now or next year need to be moved for players who can. You have 4 years of Drai and 5 years of McDavid left, I guarantee it will be less than that if you don't go all in these next few years.

Yes, you have awesome right wingers... Puljujarvi and Yammamoto... cool they are young and showed signs of life, but Rust almost outscored the two of them combined. You should be begging for Rust, especially when taking back Kassians contract. I have been paying attention to your vaunted RW's and I see that they haven't done poop at the NHL level for you to be so confident in them helping you win a cup.

Realistically speaking, signing RNH as a 3C will likely end up with him being a 2C because they are going to play Drai with McDavid a ton again because draft capital is more important than acquiring quality players to play in the top 6.

Who is going to man the point for the PP next season if you don't resign Barrie? Bouchard? Good luck with that. Nurse, sure give him a try but your PP isn't going to be nearly as effective. One strength this year for you was an ungodly powerplay... keep sticking your head in the sand and acting like Barrie wasn't a big part of that.

You are probably right on Hoffman not wanting to go to Edmonton, no one wants to play in Edmonton, even with the massive star power it is the least desirable place for a player to want to play.

Maybe Hall will resign with you this offseason to get you back in the draft lottery. Either way, good luck!

No one said the right wingers were awesome. But they are good enough and in case you missed it; if RNH is gone we have no one capable of being a top 6 left wing.
The oilers pp was top of the league before Barrie arrived. It will still be top of the league next year with either Klefbom back, Nurse or Bouchard on it.

So make like a leaf and (frank) off.
