Love how everybody here assumes the Rangers are only going to get better... like everybody wasn't saying the same thing about the Flyers just a few months ago.
- Tomahawk
I think what Dolan did at the end of this season will set this team back significantly. Davidson and his GM did a nice job rebuilding this Rangers team, they were definitely on the right track before Dolan budded in. |

I really don't understand why so many people want Giroux out of here? Please help me understand this. Is it because he is wearing the 'C' and you all don't feel he will give it up if asked? I mean, G is still a very good player and a good example to the younger guys. He is no longer an elite forward in this league, but I think he still has a lot to give. He wants to win badly and wants to win as a Flyer, and that is not a bad thing to be around. Why not keep him and resign him for the player he is now, and use the money left over to bring in better players around him? Its players like Jake, Ghost and JVR that we need to move on from and free up 25% of our cap space. - jd250
Because he's such a bad leader that all the kids regressed, the goaltending went off a cliff and he can't singlehandedly fix their special teams?
Pavelski would have strapped Nolan Patrick to his back and scored 100 goals for the both of them. |

Please tell me you are joking .. so everything wrong with the Flyers is because of Giroux? Really? How did Pavelski's leadership work for the Stars this year? |

Yep I got dumber. You want fact...
Did the 3rd dman pair ever play in nhl again after those playoffs? Nope
Did the top 4 seeds all lose in 1st round? Yep
Did philly get in playoffs as 8th seeds on last day from winning a shootout? Yep
So you don’t like context so I give you facts... and I’m now dumber with every name change? Whatever that means???
Laughable the Philly sports fan actually - Im back
lol there's no context to discuss. they literally were 2 wins away from winning the stanley cup. nothing you can say changes that fact. |

OK, so based on what I’ve read from the last 24 hours, we should trade everyone? Who the hell suggests trading Sean Couturier at the absolute steal we have him now for his production? Sean Couturier is a minimum the second best two way center in the league and will earn his money if we can get him re-signed. As for Giroux, he’s earned the right to move forward on his own terms.
Now a totally different conversation is James van Riemsdyk and Jake Voracek. I like both players and if you remove JvR for example, you need to replace his role on the team. I do agree however if Seattle takes one of these two guys, it would be the best thing for this team.
It’s both simple and dumb to suggest we simply trade everyone. What would be left over is Hayes, Laughton and Konency on our top line with Hayes being our new captain and the Flyers going neck to neck with Detroit in terms of regular season victories. This isn’t good for anyone. - SuperSchennBros
Raises hand high.
Every single thing you have ever written and especially above strongly indicates you want the team to put on a good regular season show, preferably with some tough guys on roster.
I otoh would like to win the cup and that first part is utterly irrelevant.

Its simple . If Giroux wants to stay her at 5-6M on a 3yr deal you make a gentlemans agreement at deadline with him to a resign just as Columbus did with Foligno ( they got a #1 pick) . Trade him at deadline get tons of assets and he gets his chance at a CUP..Win Win for all.....if he wants more then 5.5 - 6 and or 3 yrs Bye bye |

Drury moving in as GM is a non issue. They have groomed him for years and he has turned down other jobs to stay with Rangers.....Think it was a mistake letting go of Davidson but think they had little choice he wouldnt fire the coach and the GM.....Getting a real NHL coach like Gallant or Tocchet will make that team better. Quinn was a tad better then Hakstol. Yes they did a nice job rebuilding that team and they will be a contender next year |

I agree, I posted yesterday it is asinine to believe the Couturier is not part of the solution here. - jd250
Funny thing is, just a few weeks ago, I got into a detailed discussion with a poster about the pros and cons of trading Couturier and I provided a lot of reasoning why that course might make sense. Some dude called jd250.
https://www.hockeybuzz.co...?thread_id=171694&page=17
and subsequent pages.
I also laid out the case for trading Couts (ignore the comparisons to Barzal for this purpose) here:

We all would absolutely love Marchand if he was a Flyer...one of the best overall players in the NHL skill wise plus he has that intangible that riles up other players and fans. If you were around in the 70s that exactly what Clarke was like. Highly skilled and hated by other teams fans. Would do anything he could, legal or illegal, to win. |

They have him for 1 more year at a steal. After that he will very likely be very overpaid on a long term deal.
All this Giroux has "earned" the right is funny to me.

I think these guys implicitly (though they would never explicitly admit it) get confused about regular season production and post-season production and that the ultimate goal is to win the damn cup.
For all the talk about Couturier being so great, he has very pedestrian post-season stats. His regular season ppg recently are quite comparable to other great 2 way 1Cs, like Kopitar and Bergeron. It is however the post season that really matters, not regular season, and on that front, Couturier is far behind. |

i don't think anyone gets confused about that honestly. also, saying the regular season doesn't really matter is pretty ridiculous, since, you know, teams make the playoffs based on the regular season. |
