You are being kind, Bill.

Nisky had 2 points in 15 games. He was -4 outside the non-playoff rounds. His Corsi and Fenwick were well south of 50, and his relative Corsi/Fenwick were well into the negative (He dragged the team town in possession stats even relative to his teammates).

His single biggest contribution may well have been the stick on Gallagher's face. Else, we may well have lost that series.

No no no. Like bill said nisky played good in some 3rd periods and some ot’s. Nevermind he completely sucked and showed how over rated he was for 50 minutes of each game.

Context... 2010 we were 2 games from winning cup... Nevermind we needed a shootout on last day of regular season to get the 8th seed. Nevermind the top 4 seeded teams in the East all lost in first round and we had a much easier path to finals. But surely facts we were 2 games from raising the cup. See how context plays. Or are we still thinking facts we were 2 games from raising cup and the 2010 team was really good and so close? Never mind the had no 3rd d pair and players on 2010 team never played a game again. Laughable actually that context never considered

Honest question. How did nisky look in playoffs last year ? Yeah not good at all. Exposed. Last thing we need is a nisky type
- Im back

Nosky called it quits already at that point. He sucked because he was done. Quarantine and the strict rules of the NHL got to be too much for him. I can't blame him
He made his money and now he has a family to worry about moreso than the tail end of his career.
Yes, as a fan his decision sucks really bad but as a father I side with his decision.
The point is that he already checked out during that time. That's why he sucked

most publications had them as cup contenders entering the season, a top 6 team. They underachieved during the regular season. So you can dwell on them making the playoffs by beating king nothing and the rangers in a shootout but....context

Oh my gosh, my heart goes out to you. It is so stressful. When we bought our house two and a half years ago, my wife was convinced she smelled mold inside the walls, and that it was sure to be full of radon, and all kinds of other stuff. The real estate agents, including our own, told us she was crazy and everything is fine. I decided with them since they seemed authoritative.
So we move in and she convinces me to get the wall ripped down, as a condition of staying married, and of course it's full of mold and a leaky pipe. Our insurance won't pay, and they shouldn't, since it didn't happen while we owned it, and honestly there's no way to sue! Our inspector didn't find it, because they are not allowed to open walls and there was no moisture on the outside, and I bought it. So I pay the contractor, redo the bathroom at the same time, and three months later there's water dripping from the ceiling, because he did not correctly find the source of the leak. He offers to redo that wall somewhat for free, though I pay a fortune to a plumber to fix the pipe properly, but he doesn't have his best guys and so the drywall and paint all look like crap.
By the way the radon is through the roof. Clearly the people are on the house fake the readings, and my wife was right to be suspicious when the official reading came in as 4.0 which was the absolute max allowed.
I refinanced twice since so paid those extra fees on top of all these other expenses and barely getting into the house in the first place. And it all gets a little better, but it's hard to look at anything without realizing that it needs work.
Home ownership. Now I realize why all the retirees I work with love selling their homes and moving into condos.

Strange story. Multiple puzzling things about it but in short:

Shell out for an independent, professional mold and radon inspection where the buyer hires the professionals. You are sinking hundreds of grand on a purchase: spend a few hundred more bucks for a life changing contingency. Don't rely on seller disclosure or agent opinions.

All this bs about not having the best guy and so on. Ask them to fix matters on their own dime pronto, or you are taking them to court. I have sued multiple parties in such matters in small claims. The threat of litigation and public knowledge of it is a huge deterrent for contractors.

I refuse to lower my expectations for the team. They failed to meet them in a big way this past season. The talk about not getting a Niskanen replacement...yes, that was only the start of the issues. Also, I think the add should be a bigger impact replacement because even with Niskanen, the defense was still short of contender status. That is me just being honest.

The defense needs a revamp and an impact RHD add. Needs to be both an impact player and the right fit. It is a must add. The only viable alternative is to add 2 good but not great guys to the top 4 and go for both great fit and bank on improvement from the youth. I would choose option 1. Not because I doubt that growth is likely but don’t see a good enough fit due to the gap in drafting RD, and think it might take too long for the vet forwards to still be productive enough.

- NC Flyers Fan

Are your expectations for regular season respectability or to be on a contending track? Because if it is the latter, I don't see how adding 2 "good but not great players" on D gets us on that track.

And "bank" is a strange verb to use for our young players. I think you mean hope. Its random at best (and one can't bank on random events), and you have to admit, the initial returns are overall negative relative to expectations for them as a group.

On a related aside, it is always amusing to me how people are quick to point out that there are no guarantees from high draft picks, and yet in the same breath, treat the best case scenario of their own young players (Hart will be a superstar!) as pre-ordained.

Big play stud.

How is the stat line on Barzal after that wraparound? The goal doesn't happen if he doesn't turn on a dime behind the net which makes Rask a tad late covering the post.

Yep I got dumber. You want fact...
Did the 3rd dman pair ever play in nhl again after those playoffs? Nope

Did the top 4 seeds all lose in 1st round? Yep

Did philly get in playoffs as 8th seeds on last day from winning a shootout? Yep

So you don’t like context so I give you facts... and I’m now dumber with every name change? Whatever that means???

Laughable the Philly sports fan actually

OK, so based on what I’ve read from the last 24 hours, we should trade everyone? Who the hell suggests trading Sean Couturier at the absolute steal we have him now for his production? Sean Couturier is a minimum the second best two way center in the league and will earn his money if we can get him re-signed. As for Giroux, he’s earned the right to move forward on his own terms.

Now a totally different conversation is James van Riemsdyk and Jake Voracek. I like both players and if you remove JvR for example, you need to replace his role on the team. I do agree however if Seattle takes one of these two guys, it would be the best thing for this team.

It’s both simple and dumb to suggest we simply trade everyone. What would be left over is Hayes, Laughton and Konency on our top line with Hayes being our new captain and the Flyers going neck to neck with Detroit in terms of regular season victories. This isn’t good for anyone.

As I mentioned, it would be a mistake for the Flyers to go after Seth Jones, not just because of the money he would demand $8M+/season, but also because he is not that good at defending, especially man on man which is the system the Flyers play. This article today I thought really explained this well:

https://www.broadstreetho...onald-flyers-blue-jackets

The pre-Hextall Flyers would dump a ton of picks and prospects to Columbus to get Jones and then sign him to a 7 year contract, completely out of desperation. That would be a huge mistake here and would once again set this franchise back another decade. Lets hope Fletcher does not give into any pressure from owners to do something stupid like this. As I posted previously, the Flyers should instead try to sign a top 4 FA Dman for less money (Larsson) that does play their system well and adds the physical side which they need, and then trade for another top 4 Dman. This along with resigning Morin should get the Flyers D back on par quickly.

I agree, I posted yesterday it is asinine to believe the Couturier is not part of the solution here. Its also dumb to want to trade Giroux, especially now that his contract is expiring, we can re-sign him for the player he is now, not the player he was. However, I also believe the Flyers must move on from Jake, JVR and Ghost for obvious reasons. JVR is a one-dimensional forward, we can do so much better with his cap hit. Jake is ... well ... Jake, a pond hockey, pass-happy turnover machine. And Ghost is also a defensive liability that you just can't afford to play top pairing minutes. The Flyers can do so much better if they can free these cap hits.

I am sure many Ranger fans said this is DUMB 3 yrs ago when they traded guys like McDonagh..Miller..Zuccarello etc. Now that same Fan is elated with where their team is. Unloaded up and coming UFAS Like Nash and GraBner and got tons of assets while we resign a guy like Laughton. If you are going to do this right Giroux and JVR go at the deadline next season and try to entice Seattle to take Vorachek

As much as everyone hates on Marchand that guy is pure winner. He takes every bit as much as he gives out and keeps churning and is so clutch. How good would he look in Orange and Black?? Yeah he does something off the wall once in awhile but guy is a stud hockey player.

I really don't understand why so many people want Giroux out of here? Please help me understand this. Is it because he is wearing the 'C' and you all don't feel he will give it up if asked? I mean, G is still a very good player and a good example to the younger guys. He is no longer an elite forward in this league, but I think he still has a lot to give. He wants to win badly and wants to win as a Flyer, and that is not a bad thing to be around. Why not keep him and resign him for the player he is now, and use the money left over to bring in better players around him? Its players like Jake, Ghost and JVR that we need to move on from and free up 25% of our cap space.
