Buffalo has picked in the top 10 8 drafts in a row!

Twice now with the number 1 pick and two times with the number 2 pick, and what has it got them? In fact the last time they picked outside the top 10 was the 2012 draft when they picked at number 12!

Like the flyers they have talented players. Like the Flyers they suck as a team.

The loss of Niskannen was overplayed imo. To easy to use that as the reason. The players were bad. The coaches were bad.
- hello it's me 2050

Yeah they were bad. But are they bad players or did they have a bad year? Maybe it was overplayed but the results on the ice with and without him seem to indicate differently. Again it cant be taken in a vacuum. This factor affected this, which affected that, which affected that, and so on.

Call them excuses all you want, still doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Was going to look this up

just garbage that they got to do this and yeah picking at the top didn't help them at all. It also hasn't helped the Oiler (YET). Once team getting generational talent and the other an Eichel.

It is a combination of both. Ivan had a bad year. I do not think he is a bad player.
Also think they overrated Myers and Sanheim. Sanheim wasn't even all that bad really.
Myers still young in NHL experience. Maybe he wasn't ready to take on what they wanted him to. Maybe he is just a bottom pair guy.

Lindblom gets a pass. Patrick as half pass.

Ho do you revamp the core of Giroux, Jake and Couturier? Giroux isn't leaving. Jake will be very hard to move. You said keep Couturier. Is Ghost part of the core? Laughton, he aint leaving being just resigned.
- hello it's me 2050

The way you do it is move on from Jake, JVR and Ghost. Ideally if Seattle is interested in Jake, you sweeten the deal to get them to select him. You then include JVR and Ghost in trades since I think both are very tradable right now. Laughton is not part the core and I actually liked that signing as long as Laughton plays in the bottom 6 which I think is where he is best and what he is being payed like. G is here and I don't see any reason to get rid of him. You just swap the existing contracts between G and Couturier after next season and you move on with both.

IMO the Flyers were trending in the direction they ended up in last year during the previous playoffs in the bubble. At that time, the team did not play well, and Niskanen did not look good. Thinking about this more, I honestly don't believe the Flyers fair much better this past season with Niskanen in the lineup. I think the entire narrative of the Flyers missing Niskanen as a major reason they missed the playoffs is completely overblown, I really don't believe it is true.

I think all of that is reasonable. Im not ready to blow it all up in a panic.

I can only speak to my own experience at work and in the world. Believe me when I say all the craziness effected all sorts of people all sorts of different ways.

If he gets there literally a split second later and prevents him from scoring are we talking about what a great play it was?

Poetic justice that Eichel wants out now after how shamelessly they tanked for McDavid.

I think it was something like .1 or .2 of a second difference.

Textbook hit as I see it.

Keep your heads up out there, kids.

We, as Flyers fans, should know that better than anyone.

Guess the NHL is now handing out suspensions because the other team's feelings got hurt.

Are we any different than Buffalo? Yes, we every other year make the playoffs but have not accomplished anything in a decade. Yes buffalo is pathetic but we are just mediocre. Not a huge difference.

I think Seattle takes Ghost but I do whatever is reasonable to get them to take Jake without Flyers retaining salary( add a prospect and a 2nd pick ) . At the trade deadline I ask G to waive his NTC and get some quality prospects ( not draft picks ) for his shot at a CUP. They can have a gentelmens agreement to resign him at a certain $$ and term or he becomes a UFA. JVR would likely be very tradeable at the deadline I dont think he is now. Then in 2022 you would have accumulated a bunch of assets and Cap space to work with. Flyers can no longer build around these guys its like trying to run in sand . Its time to move on and not hold on like we did with Simmonds. i

If the Flyers are in the playoff picture, and I believe they will be. This is not going to happen.

Lets stir the pot...

Jeff Carter has completely changed the dynamic of what the Penguins need and what they have to chase this summer. For years Rutherford spent a ton of draft capital and trade assets to chase a third line center. In literally the only move Hextall has made he got a really effective third line center for peanuts, not only in assets given up, but in cap hit as well. Keep focusing on the skill and quickness. This team isn’t built to go hybrid or full big bodied grit.

maybe Hexy was saving his trade prowess for the Pens.

There is no way I would trade Sean Couturier at that price and his production.

They just like to hate the things they think they love because they hate themselves and aren’t capable of loving anything else.

They really are a self contained tragedy.

In the process of buying a house. I didn’t realize houses came with stress and anxiety upfront before the down payment and moving in.
