From the end-zone camera angle you actually do see Evans looking to his right for a moment before crossing the red line.

And it does not matter if the guy puts himself in a vulnerable position while trying to score a goal. The onus is on the player laying the hit.

And why do you think - without exception - ALL of the analysts agree it was not a clean hit? Winnipeg fans are right and all the analysts are wrong?

Because a kid with a history of concussions got knocked out scoring his first playoff goal on his 25th birthday and that’s terrible. People with public jobs like analysts tend not to want to look like they’re in favor violence and incite the anger of an outrage mob by suggesting it’s okay for that to happen. It’s an optics driven league, and the hit looked horrible.

It’s not all analysts, btw. I don’t think there’s been a topic in history that ALL analysts, without exception, agree on. Most believe it warranted suspension, some softened their stances after reviewing the play a bit, and many weren’t calling for more than a game or two.

Side note: Is it actually true that the onus is 100% on the player making the hit? A shooter can be oblivious and it’s on the defender to make sure to avoid his vulnerable parts? Disappointing, if true.

You bet I am. Even without Scheifele, the Jets top 5 forwards are better than Montreal’s best.

Montreal is playing a simple trap style neutral zone game. This is where things like zone entries and puck possession become so important.

This Jets team has soooo much talent and I just don’t get it!!!!!

Hate to say it Ultimate but I think the Jets don't have as much talent as they've been hyped to have, there's a lot more bottom six talent then true top six talent on the Jets.

Montreal d-core is really solid. the team is built from the net out. Jets have been consistently losing at home the past two seasons, so, the road it is.

Poolman is not a top pair D but he is a good third pair one and he covered up a lot of Stanley mistakes that Benn just can not. Heinola better be in the lineup and with Morrisey tomorrow!!
I’d also consider these lines, time for a change!! We generated zero offence last night, none!! Copp and PLD who both see themselves as top 6 centers delivered butkiss

Connor -PLD-Ehlers
Matty P-Copp-wheels
Perreault-Lowry-apples
Vesalainen-Gustafson-Lewis

Montreal is just playing a boring game and it seems that Maurice has been unable to make any adjustments. I don’t think that Montreal’s defense is any better than the Jets. They just play a system suited to them.

I thought it was a tough hockey play wit a terrible result. I really don’t even see the need for the major on that hit. Is it just me or has hockey gotten as soft as bettmans Richard?
