What is a 4th pairing defenseman? I’d like to revisit this conversation at the trade deadline next season and see which one of us is eating crow
- picklerick

I will try to make it easy for you to understand. Its based on ice time. Ist pairing 20+ Second Pairing 18+ Third pairing 12+. Give or take.

Dont get your pickle all bent out of shape, I didnt say he wasnt good, he had an excellent year. He played top minutes for us most of the year but will he be a top pairing defenseman in the future? Nobody knows, but to get talent like Turcotte you need to give up talent. Id rather trade Jones but he has no trade value to get that center we need.

He’s going to be one of the best 2C’s in the game that can be a 1C when needed but not on a consistent basis. I’m not saying he’s going to be bad and maybe it’s more of how I view Miller, as a future top 10 dman in the league.

Top ten in the league? Pretty lofty sights for him dont you think?

So to recap, you wrote an error, he asked you to explain it, and you respond by ignoring that and being a Richard,... again.
Then, follow that up by defending your argument that you doubt Miller could be a top pairing defenseman because he did it as a rookie?

Well done.

We will see how good he is in a normal season after teams have some tape on him.

First and foremost, hes gotta learn to take the body. Hes become so used to just using stick checks because of his length, he will learn the hard way it will get him in trouble.

Okay so if I remember correctly, turcotte has yet to play a shift in the NHL, I don't think I'm giving up Miller for that

That’s going to come when he adds 20-25 lbs. I couldn’t believe how skinny he was when I would see him in suits before the games, his legs look like tooth picks.

Hey Tony, you better break out you RIF cards, I did explain how they broke down the pairing slots.

I didnt know we had to start writing thesis on our opinions but for you my special education child I will. I think Millers foot speed isnt up to par to compete with the best the league has to offer. He was beaten but bailed out many times because of his reach which is pretty impressive. He had a very good rookie campaign but I dont think he is untouchable. Will he grow into a solid 1 or 2 defenseman, who knows, will Turcotte turn into a number 1 center? Who knows, but right now he is a 3-4 defenseman. Nothing more.

Ive never been shy about using Miller as a trade chip. Reason being, I think Robertson may be just as good as Miller.

I could see the pairing of Robertson and Schneider being our “bash brothers”.

You wrote that Miller was a 3rd/4th PAIRING dman and when asked what a 4th pairing dman is you listed out ice-time for the top 3 pairs. You clearly meant that he was a 3/4 (2nd pairing) dman but with your combative nature and room temperature IQ you didn't pick up on it.

He is 210lbs, doesnt need to get bigger to play the body, just better positioning. Or its just not his game.

He is a good player, just debating what his ceiling is and his trade value.

Another RIF candidate.

Listen Skippy, you just keep making your trade proposals, I need a good laugh.

Still want Eichel? Who was your last target? Perry?

As far as my room temperature IQ, its a room in Death Valley.

I don’t understand the belief that K’Andre can’t become a #1 defenseman. Of course he can.

He far exceeded expectations this past season.

Just 21 years old with that size and skating ability, he hasn’t even scratched the surface of his abilities.

Probably 4 years away from even entering his prime.

He could very well be the next Chara. Mike Milbury once thought Chara would never be a #1 defenseman too.

Probably not. Honestly I think we trade for a mid career player. We have too many ELCs. I think we trade a pick and player so that we don't have as many cap casualties in 3-4 years

You are as dumb as you are pissy and argumentative.
Not only did you fail to pick up on your mistake twice, but double down on sounding like a moron for overexplaining to all the people who have a deeper understanding of what you're talking about than you do. Again,... well done.
Furthermore, no one said he has to gain weight. They said he WILL gain weight. He is a 21 year old athlete. Do you know what professional athletes do? They work out. Do you know what happens when you work out? You build muscle. Do you know what adding muscle does? It makes you heavier. Not to mention the frame of a 20 something filling out and increasing in overall mass.
I know you like calling people slow so you feel like you might have some peers on the board here, but you really are not good at this. Try emptying your cup. You might realize just how much you don't understand.

Wow thank you Tony!!! I didnt know that!!! Im glad you spoke to Miller and discuss his training plans for the future. Thank you for that incredible insight. Did you copy that off the internet or something?

Did your teacher show you how to block shots to the head or did he just let you take the beating?? I bet you just use your face to break the other guys hands.
