Hey, you're entitled to your opinion. Just so long as you know! Joni was so much more charismatic than Adam Duritz.
And for the record, I always thought U2's version of All Along the Watchtower was better than Dylan's, too.

Comb through my statement. I did not rate U2 vs. Jimi. Only vs. Dylan.
Wasn't contesting that. I'm at the age where I knew Jimi's version long before I ever heard the original, so I tend to agree with you. Many older people would disagree.

You are really hung up on these tropes of what a 3rd line/2 PP center needs to be.
If you have those qualities in your 2C, why does your 3C need to be the same? You don't need them slotted into certain positions, you need them on your team. - Tonybere
Because you want to be strong everywhere on your lineup. You dont want to give up at anything.
Because when you have a top line that potentially consists of Panarin and Zibanejad you want the depth of your lines to get increasingly better at defense. Zibanejad never has to play the PK again. Look at Boston as an example, most of their damage comes from the top line with the rest of their lines adding some support and playing sound solid hockey.
I understand that my thinking process is somewhat rigid and formualic, however I feel like there is definitely a recipe for team building. Furthermore, I understand that merely bringing in a player doesnt automatically mean theyll succeed. However I also think you have to have a plan for how you want the team to look.
you know I defended Brett Howden from a lot of hate, but, it is pretty incredible that he had only 1 goal this season and it was a gift empty netter - jimbro83

Lets be crystal clear here:
ANY re-make of a Dylan song is automatically superior because Dylan stunk as a singer.
He was a BRILLIANT songwriter/poet, but couldn't carry a tune if his life depended on it!

Some of it (the whine) is intentional- Listen to him sing Lay Lady Lay!

Ok, I appreciate your explanation.
However, I disagree to an extent.
Zib has become one of the more dangerous PKers playing right now. For a stretch there it seemed as if he and Buch produced at least 1 grade A scoring chance per penalty. Why would you take him out of that role just to reduce his minutes? That can be achieved in other ways. Maybe start the 2PP more. Give defensive draws to this new center we are talking about...
I understand your point about defense increasing down the line up, but it doesn't have to conform to a rigid formula. The game is so fluid, having all the different talents covered on the roster provides flexibility that makes the other teams strategizing more difficult. Regardless of traditional slotting into roles.
