For those who want the Rangers to trade for 35 year old Malkin, he just had knee surgery and won't be able to make training camp in September. WOOF!

At what point does Pittsburgh move on from this window and blow it up. I guess when you have Crosby you are always in it but damn they need quite a bit it seems.

They said they’re keeping their core of letang crybaby and malkin in tact and are working on contract extensions.

This only works at discounts.. with their core take say a 25-50% discount to allow them to stay and sign more free agents? Not sure if they do

Malkin would see a decrease, not sure Crosby takes less than his 8.7. He got underpaid for almost the entire length of his deal, maybe he takes the same or less but it won’t be by much.

This could be potentially bad news for the Rangers. Columbus may now be in the same market as us looking for a 2C.
Unless we can convince them to take Strome off our hands once we acquire the center we want.

Hertl being my target would have to waive his NTC, and I cant imagine he would do that for CBJ.

We have better trade chips and not only are we not located in Ohio, but we are located in NYC. I think we get the pick of the litter if it’s between us two

You don't have to like Dolan, but he is a respected owner among the players. The Rangers have always had 1st class facilities and treatment. He has NEVER been afraid to spend $$$ to help the team. Compare that to the Pegulas in Buffalo --- Dolan is not that bad.

Did you forget that just a few weeks ago he got fined $250K because he had his players backs in the Tom Wilson incident? He called out the league and Parros by name for their incompetence. You think players forget stuff like that?

I think Hertl is a great target but at what cost? 15th Nils Kravtsov get it done?

Panarin Hertl Kakko
Laf Zib Chytil
Kreider Strome Buch

That’s a tough top 9 to match up against

A 1st and Chytil for Hertl.

Also, a trade for a top notch center like Hertl essentially spells the end for Buch.

Well, hes got a NTC so if he agrees to waive I find it hard to believe he doesnt sign an extension. I can see him getting just slightly less than what Zibanejad gets.

I think it's ultimately gonna be Buch or Chytil, I don't think both will be gone

I know you don't like Chytil very much, but, he will still be cheap and it's still possible he can succeed on the wing

I still have hope that he will become a solid 2/3 center for us!

Adding Hertl would be a huge score, but it all depends on what SJ is doing, will they take another run at it? They have Karlson and Burns for like another generation, will they want to keep Hertl to go for it again?

Hes never played RW. He was a LW.

Personally, Id rather let him go, move Strome to RW and pick up a proper 3C.
