Any 2021 UFA's that excite you guys that wouldnt break the bank? - mrn22
Maybe for depth forwards, someone like Martinook would be a great character guy to have in the lineup. Also wouldnt mind Foligno if we end up having space for another depth winger, another solid character guy to have in the lineup. I wouldnt be completely avert to bringing back Staal as a 6th/7th depth defenseman. Andrew Copp could be a nice grab as a 3C. Coleman, Glendenning, Paquette… all solid bottom 6 additions.

I mentioned Copp a couple weeks ago. I chatted with some guys on the Jets board, they think he's pretty entrenched there. He's an RFA, so most likely not going anywhere.
Half the board just marked you for death - MeltingPlastic
I knew that would be a bit controvertial. However, if hes playing 30 games and helping the kids develop, dont see it as a total negative. I know weve pegged Smith for that but its an option if Smith gets overpaid by another club.

Its hard to gauge whats happening in FA cause so many guys arent getting extensions yet because of the expansion draft.

I'm honestly fine with either. Prefer Smith but Staal would be a great mentor

You can't play them all so might as well get something back. I know you are a Quinn fan but when you think we had a season with a Norris trophy candidate, A top ten point scorer, rookies like Miller that far exceeded expectations, solid improvements from players like Kakko and Buch, surprises from guys like Rooney and Blackwell and solid goal tending from Iggy- why did we so under perform? I think Quinn's was the problem. His inability to get the team ready and play consistently and then his in game adjustments were either non existent or just brutal.
I think we are only a few players and a new coach away- but that's just me.
We need a defensive center preferably a solid two way player and we have the assets to get one- lets do it. I am fine with moving a blue chip prospect like Nils and draft picks. - Greschnergy#4
There are several reasons why this team under performed this year, but to me the biggest one is clear: we were in the toughest division in the NHL.
If our Ranger team played in the Canadian division, we would have made the playoffs. The problem is though: we would have gotten destroyed in the playoffs just like Toronto and Edmonton.
I don't think they signed Nils Lundkvist to a contract
then publicized this pic
if they have intentions of trading him

It’s not about wanting to trade him, it’s about we can only have 3 RHD in the lineup at once. Trouba isn’t going anywhere and neither is Fox, I don’t think Schneider gets traded with Dolan wanting to get more physical, therefore I think Nils is the odd man out. We shall see though.

when you watch highlights of him, in the offensive zone, he's playing more left side than right, which is interesting

He did play on Left side majority of the time, but doing that in the NHL is a big difference. He will have less time and passing from his off side will cause problems for him/team

looks like an option on the left point on the powerplay though
Zac Jones was just named one of three best players in WC's too
I cant wait until the offseason officially starts so we see what they are actually doing here
