Since Beane drafts players for the bills. She had nothing to do.

Beane and I made eye contact at the blue jays game last night. I nodded and lipped thank you. Is that weird ?

As long as there wasn't any other kind of lip service. Think your good!!!😇😇

I mean sure, but Brodie, Muzzin, and McD aren’t comparable (maybe have been at times, but not sustained by any means) to 1st line wingers or top tier 2C. Try trading for Weber or Suter during their prime and would have costed just as much as those guys. But yes, if you are trying to get a solid contributor at the end, you prolly didn’t have it to begin with. The glue guys are the acquire targets of good teams, unless your team is nothing but glue *cough Boston cough*

With all due respect, I believe Power has a better chance of being mentioned in the same breath as those respective 2nd pair D I mentioned than he is to being a Suter or Weber, that’s why I would lean forward with the pick.

If he is fact a future Buffalo Sabre, I hope they are patient with his development and let him go back to college and hopefully he reaches his ceiling.

It’s easy to get enamoured with his size but his short area quickness and lack of physicality (which is sheltered in due party to the bigger ice surface at the World Championship), along with lack of high end offensive capabilities really limits him imo.

Unless you consider Seth Jones a top pair d-man cause he can log a lot of minutes than Power could fit that criteria, barring a huge offensive burst next year

It seems rather apparent from this Armchair GM on the Best path forward:

Trade '21-1OA to The Kraken,
* they make their big splash pick, contingent on them picking Power.
* get 2OA in return, plus they have to pick Okposo

Trade Eichel & Olofsson to Anaheim, return of
* Zegras
* '21 - 3OA
* '22 - 1st

Trade Sam, Tage & Miller to CBJ, return of
* Texier
* '21 - 5OA

Draft
* Beniers
* Eklund
* Guenther

Doubt it, sure would have liked him more than Hutton though.

I like this. Only thing I’d change is getting something different from Sea instead of taking KO. Don’t need to ship him off if your moving Eichel and Sam

agreed...not against berniers at all...

although none of our opinions really mater, a tradedown with seattle makes the most sense for all parties

My preference has always been Eklund followed by Berneirs or power. I don’t think he’s done developing, as d take longer generally. And he already looks the part of at least high end second pairing

Yeah I would rather swap picks and see if we could steer them towards a certain player on another team to draft in the expansion draft and send to us in the trade.

Listen is not a bad pick but hes a LHD and we're likely losing our 2 Forwards that produce all the offence.

or like somebody mentioned, buffalo gets a third rounder and seattle takes miller in the expansion draft...

i don't think ko's going anywhere, i think he wants to finish his career in buffalo and with two years left, they can ride it out

So much to ponder with this team. The one thing I think we can all agree on is that we can't go into next year with basically the same squad. It's not too far-fetched to say that any team that finishes dead last would require a massive overhaul. There are very few players on this team that I'd be upset about if they were no longer a Sabre. Very few.

Bring me the overhaul !

Like most of it, but I feel like they'll need a 3 goaltender if they sign Ullmark based on his annual injury history.

If there's a deal with Seattle, I think it might happen in 2 parts. First, Buf trades a pick for expansion draft considerations. Second, big pick trade + a goalie (and maybe other players) comes back. Allows the bigger trade to happen after the expansion draft and Sea has some assets to work with.
