I was too worried about the Sabres being good to think about the draft those years. Wish I had paid attention, cause you can't just look at a draft class from 15 years ago and be like oh no one knew who these guys would be and lol yikes from 8-21.
Adams' version of BPA is who will they end up as. Hence the Quinn pick, Christ kill me for mentioning it. - TheSabresTaco
First time GM's always seem to do things like that at the draft and with trades as well. They have their vision and it's crystal clear to them. But the "clarity" can also be blinding. Why are the Sabres in this mess? Two rookie GM's contributed heavily to it.
1st overall to Tampa for Point, Johnson, 2023 2nd and rights to Blake Coleman
Eichel to LA for Byfield, 2021 1st, 2022 Second, 2023 2nd, Quick.
Reinhart to Van for 2021 1st +
Buffalo gets two top 10 draft picks this year.
Loads up on 2nd rd picks for the next 3 years to continue to restock the cupboards. - ImThatGuy

This is a very long and tired discussion. We all have our theories backed up by a mountain of evidence. One of the biggest factors, factually, is our inability to draft. Please consider the following.
For those of us who do not subscribe, they break down, in numerous ways, how each team has drafted and how effective those picks have been in the NHL. As you may guess, the Sabres have been utter failures. Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Arizona and New Jersey frequent the low end of draft effectiveness in numerous different ways.
I hope Kevyn has a clear vision, I hope his entire staff is on the same page like he claimed they are, and I hope they draft identity players with high upside.

Which is why I hate having 1, Trade back or trade it away.
no clear cut BPA
All the best players are D-men by most accounts. - ImThatGuy
There is always a BPA as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. After all, the only way that we'd be able to trade down is if someone else wants their BPA.
But yeah, if we could I would trade down. But given that all of these players seem to be graded the same I would think the desire to trade up might be less than it is in other years.
We talk a lot about trading with LA, bout time someone comes out of the shadows. - TheSabresTaco
Everyone talks about trading with us lately lol.we have a nice stable of young studs coming for sure.maybe we throw 8 and a third at buffalo and we take power and call it a day.

Shouldn't this add more fuel to the fire for them to be sold and moved to Quebec City?

Provided you're not insinuating that the Sabres should trade out of the top 5-6 spots, if there's no clear cut BPA, why would any team move up for number one then?

I think trading to 1OA might cost a little more than a third.
it's possible (as with anything) that the sabres could move down twice (much to your dismay)...
a trade down with seattle is logical as they can start their franchise off with a 1st overall pick and the sabres could have them take miller and maybe snag a third-rounder from the kraken as they'll probably have some extra picks in the draft...
just red where anaheim really would have liked power or berniers...sabres could move down asking for a 2nd or a mid-level prospect (jacob perreault?)...

We desperately need to find a way to get fans in the room with Adams when the pick is made, so that he doesn't screw it up.

To get their guy of course. I don't see the Sabres moving past 3 without significant compensation.
