I assume a lot, i just wouldn't Pigeon hole myself to only a top 10 pick and a goalie.
If you can get NHL ready or already in the NHL players you should also do that. - ImThatGuy
Reinhart to Calgary for Zary and their 1st round pick this year. |

The only return i want is 5th + Goalie - gerbe75pts
I even think +. So 5th, Goalie, 2022 2nd, fwd prospect (not top end).
You are getting a great player, young, right now. You have to pay.
Edit. Something more on our end is fine, d prospect or something, Reinhart is worth way more than 5th overall in a weird / below average draft. |

Perhaps. Would be a good snag if he didn't tho. |

Looking at that list .Every Time a D man is picked #1 it is suspect...
Pick Berniers or trade the pick..... Because these BAd teams Cannot wait for a D man to develop. Established teams can ....
Power seems big enough .
Berniers seems almost ready.
Need to sign a goalie . a good one ....

Happens much more than people think.
Friedman on 31 Thoughts mentions the Oilers were not comfortable with how McDavid handled his knee injury, but they put their trust in McDavid's people.
Crosby when he was dealing with his concussion did a lot of things with a chiropractor that medical professionals didn't like.

point taken, however, this is groundbreaking surgery for the nhl and something that's still in it's infancy beyond the sport...i can see why there's hesitation on the part of the sabres and their doctors |

Nice to see we agreed on Ullmark somewhat.
On Hall you have to face facts. Hall wasn’t good at all in Buffalo and I will always maintain he couldn’t handle being counted on. In Boston his surroundings are quite different and he plays with no pressure.
On Hutton one important stat of his is goals for while he was in net. Lowest in the league at 1.69. If your team is expecting to win 1 nothing every game your done before you start. He’s gone anyway and maybe he was average at best but the team in front of him was sh!t.
Unless this team gets tougher and play with some intensity like they did some games under Donny I don’t see Ullmark or any target making a difference. - Camel
Ullmark put up much better stats than Hutton with the same team in front of him
Hutton had a few decent & even good games
But overall, he was bad- the numbers don’t lie
There’s no way around them, no matter how u try to spin it
As far as Hall goes,
pretty much everyone was a disaster offensively this year under Kruger
So singling him out just didn’t make sense

I'm curious about the additional new draft lottery rules next year, where it states that a team cannot jump more than 10 spots in the draft.
Does that mean if a team ranked 13th through 16th wins the lottery drawing for the first overall, they get moved up from say 15 to 5? Or does it mean they redraw until one of the teams ranked 1st through 11th has their combination come out? Or are the lottery odds adjusted so only teams 1 - 11 are drawn for the 1st overall and only teams 1 - 12 are drawn for the 2nd overall?
I'm guessing they'll keep it simple and give teams 1 - 16 weighted odds, and if team 16's combination is pulled for the 1st overall, they just get moved up to 6th overall. - kingcong39
It’s the bolded
Used to be this way in the NHL & they changed it to try & prevent tanking
Glad they’re changing it back
I believe before that u could only jump up 5 spots though- i wish they’d do that again |

If we manage to pull that off and get a top pick next year that core will be light years better then the jack one - gerbe75pts
As tempting as high picks this year would be,
getting them in the ‘22 draft (especially unprotected) would be even better |

The Reinhart and Columbus rumors are flying down here for what it’s worth - BeadyEyedDouche
Pick5 & a goalie for Sam works for me
It’s pretty well know they wanna trade a goalie anyways
And Sam is currently worth much more than their 1b goalie imo
I suppose we could add something if we have to
Throw in Tage or whatever forward we aren’t gonna protect |

Given that Shane Wright is in next year's draft, I'd say gerbe would want next year's. |

You'd have to guarantee 1st though and that's impossible. At least this year you know what your getting.

Next year’s draft is MUCH better according to experts
So even if we didn’t get Wright, we’d still get a really good talent |

Honest question, is it better then the top here at picks like 5 next year? IDK. There are a few at the top no question that are better. 3 specifically in Wright, Savoie, and Lambert. But I guess I don't see FOR SURE someone like Fleming and Devine going to be above Guenther or Hughes? Tough to say without seeing those guys play this last season much. |

McGroatery would be the easy favourite for first overall this year right now he’d probably go 4th or 5th next year.
Much better talent at the top and most likely better depth too |

Good to know. I just picked 2 names frequented in the top 10 there, seeing where they'd stack up in this years top 10. I find it unlikely a team would give up unprotected firsts anymore. Seems to be a way of the past. |

It supposedly is
But even if it’s not, getting say pick8 next year would likely be close to whoever we’d get at pick5 this year (if not better)
Plus, we’d get a chance at Wright, Lavoie & Lambert (any of whom would easily be the top pick this season)
Could be risky, but I’d take the picks next year
Especially if there was no “protection” on them |

You made a good point though as because of the restrictions it’s been tough to get progress updates but from what these prospects have been doing even at the U16 level there has been hype about both the 2022 and 2023 drafts for a couple of years |
