They were .75 pts/game under Don, still worst in the league.

The divisions certainly had a big impact.

- Lunaion

I didn't say they were good, but they were better and Granato did it with much less to work with than Krueger

They will be better. Or they'll be the 1st team to finish 32nd. Where'd I put that darn magic 8-ball?

Guess it all depends on what Adams and Karmanos want in exchange for those players. Like you have said can't project things until you actually see it.
- Buff36

Exactly
But based on what i think we will get in return for Jack & Sam & Risto......
i expect the young talent won’t make a huge difference right away,
and the cap dumps won’t help either

Therefore, i expect another rough season next year
And probably the same after that

But we’ll see what we get for them

What if la “dumped” Dustin brown on us? A guy like that won’t help?

You say things as if they are bonafide truths. What if la “dumped” Dustin brown on us? A guy like that won’t help?
- TheHank

I’m speaking based on my expectations of what we’d get back- pretty clearly said that

Sure Brown would “help”
But i don’t expect that to happen
And even if it did, he’s no Eichel

Imo, it’s more likely we’d get back Quick &/or Maata
Which i don’t believe would help much at all

Even if we get Byfield + back for Jack,
he’s gonna have less effect than Eichel did

So correct
I don’t believe the young players we get back for them will be of a significant help for NEXT season
As they grow & develop moving forward, sure
Just not much right away
And certainly not close to as much right away as Jack & Sam brought

- jdfitz77

Jack missed most of the year and was a shadow of himself when he played. Not sure that really works here, Byfield from that trade is nearly a net gain from how we faired last year.

Less impact sure. An improvement over Cody (frank)ing Eakin...one million percent yes.

I was just curious how his final % ended up. I thought he was probably ahead of a few teams. Turns out he was still dead last.

But Eichel & Eakin is still better than Byfield & Eakin

And yeah, Eichel was hurt last year
But we also sucked the previous 5 when he was healthy

Based on what i expect we’ll get back,
i think it’s gonna be another really rough season or 2 (at least) ahead of us.....

.75 for Donnie and .76 for Dallas Eakins

Close but no cigar, Donnie.

Kind of mind blowing that Ullmark had a real .500 record

Yep. I agree
Been saying that for a while now

Never got why so many disagreed with that?
It’s been so obvious

Well probably because we all were expecting Ullmark to carry the load and Hutton only seeing about 15 games.

It is better, no argument. Just pointing out our last place finish was mostly without Jack, so his inclusion isn't really part of the argument for whether we improve. If we trade him, his return is mostly a net gain, if he returns healthy then yay! Replacing Samson, if we traded both (which I doubt we do) would be better to use. I get where you're coming from though.

And out of curiosity, how many points do you think Byfield would get in a rookie season?

Zegras just had 13pts in 24g. Stuetzle 29p in 53.

I'd say those guys would have an impact immediately. Is Byfield lesser in your eyes? Just curious.

Was anyone happy with Ullmark, Hutton, Johansson going into a season where you knew you'd need all 3?

Ullmark has never been able to stay healthy enough to “carry the load”

And even 15games of Hutton is too much

Should’ve been easy for all to see that imo

Depends how we use him
But around 40pts would be a guess
That’s significantly less than what we typically get from Eichel- and even with Eichel, we were still a bad team- really bad

No. Then again, the injuries did kind of ruin any chance it had. Ullmark went 9-6-3, for whatever that's worth.

Ullmark as our #2 would be great
Counting on him as our #1 proved to be wishful thinking
