Why would teams give up there 1st next year, especially not with any protection on it knowing that the draft is better.

My thoughts exactly.

However i would take a late first next year over a late first this year.

Honest question, is it better then the top here at picks like 5 next year? IDK. There are a few at the top no question that are better. 3 specifically in Wright, Savoie, and Lambert. But I guess I don't see FOR SURE someone like Fleming and Devine going to be above Guenther or Hughes? Tough to say without seeing those guys play this last season much.

No next year has franchise players and elite Superstars

This draft has players like vanek , Kessler Toews Tear,

I mean, these two are franchise players.

I also think Power wouldn’t be the worst pick

If he’s really good, having Power/Dahlin control the game for 45-50 min a game on two separate pairs isn’t the worst idea

At the top I get that. That wasn't the question. Guys at pick say 8/9 next year, are they all better then guys pick 8/9 this year. I understand Beniers/Power/Guenther/Eklund are inferior to Wright/Lavoie/Lambert, but the next couple of waves after that. More then likely that's where picks next year would fall (and I understand hoping for a collapse and getting two of the aforementioned guys). IMO, it's tough to say seeing as progression is tough to gauge. I'm not declaring one or the other, just killing time with what ifs and speculations.

Really seems that way next year, but with everything going on do we really know how good the kids in this draft are or can be.

If you could guarantee me Sabres are picking top 5 next year then I don’t mind Power at all this year either.

This was my point. They very well COULD be better. I'm not taking a stance/dying on a hill. But I think there will be very good NHLers that come from this draft, and I would not be surprised at all if one or two of them end up better than one of Wright/Lavoie/Lambert.

Could happen, I don't know about Wright he's gonna be a star. I will take any pick that comes back this year, gonna be some good hockey players found throughout this draft.

The problem with this years draft is ...... no late bloomers. Jack Quinn for example made a major rise in draft stock. Nico Hischer did too.

Also, most of the CHL kids havent had a gym or ice to skate on in over a year. Canada has been locked up and closed.

Sure, he's the least likely of the 3 by far. We'll see how she all plays out.

Bc they need to outbid other teams for Eichel

Again, without a full year of evals, it's really tough to call the entire draft better. The top guys, fine, pretty easy to distinguish. We'll see, don't know why it's bothering you that the discussion is being had, and even if we get a first next year at 8 which would be like 5 this year, most of those guys are 4/5 years of making an impact. Notice making an impact, not playing.

Good read, a foundation to build on with other young players already on the roster.
