When you think about it...or if you think about it. They are adding young assets with prospects and picks...to develop. It makes no sense to bring in young players to just trade them for the sake of trading them. This team will have to take the next step in order for the FO to spend money.

Training camp will have a lot of young faces, competition, and opportunity. The Hawks need to see who is going to take the next step and who is developing...and bought in to their own development. Next year will be another year of playing the young players and most of the people on this board female doging about JC, SB, and whatever else they can think of....can't wait!

Any word on how Evans is doing?
- tvetter

Alert and checked by both hospital and team docs. Resting, but no timetable on when/if he'll return. That's all they said during intermission.

Indeed he is. It got me wondering what his early career was like. His first 3-4 years were middling. About 20-25 pts, close to even, and slightly underwater on his analytics.

I say this so that we all realize that we need to give these young D enough time to develop into what they are going to be. By no means am I saying that any will develop into Hedman, but they are by no means at their peak in their 1st/2nd year in the league.

Maybe it was the system with Hedman the first three years?

We need to be patient.

Development on this board is measured in shifts, you need to change your parameter.

There is going to be more and more youngsters added to the mix and among the forwards, we shall see chippiness, checking and aggressiveness in the bottom lines. This bodes well for the compete level. This may inspire veterans at times. And a hungry team might just win more than we thought they would. The competition will increase to a higher level as they take on tougher opponents in a full schedule. Bowman must add top line talent, or a top pair calibre dman with his first round choices this season and next. Which is the necessary ingredient for the team to come together

Man Varlamov gave up a bad goal

Not a good angle for sure, but that (frank)ing weasel hit the pipe elbow in the top corner for a perfect shot.

I really really do not like players that are not willing to block shots or play physical if needed on the pk. It really puts a lot of pressure on the other 3 skaters.

Teuvo Teravainen has blocked more shots in the playoffs than Jordan Staal.

He blocked shots at the same pace as Staal during the regular season.

In fact, looking back at it, the Svechnikov-Aho-Teravainen line did not take any offensive zone faceoffs at even strength last night. Every shift started in their own end or in the neutral zone.
