Brackett did nothing...

I'm looking forward to see what Judd does with the Wild's 9 picks including 2 firsts.

“I don’t really get into the politics of the nonsense that, ‘That guy drafted that guy, that guy is responsible
- 1970vintage[for this guy].’ Winning organizations don’t do that. Winning organizations, they pick the players that they think they can win with and they can have success with, and that’s what we’re trying to accomplish here.”

This is what your boy Benning has to say about that...

So what happens when the Flames win 1oa? Do the Canucks automatically move down or do they get a chance to go for 2oa?

The rules changed this year

Two separate draws for 1st oa and 2nd oa.
3rd is locked
Teams can't move up more than 10 spots.
Furthest teams can fall back is 2 spots

So you’re saying there is a chance?

So if Buffalo gets knocked out of the top 2 they move to 3oa and Seattle moves down to 4th?

I'm not 100% sure on the 3rd overall. I imagine that's correct though.

He clearly has too much integrity and respect for his staff to take full credit for overruling his scouts and making a great pick.

It makes Brackett look bad publicly so he’s doing Judd a solid

Not correct, that comes into play next year, not this year (for whatever reason)

They just drawing the first two, so third isn't necessarily "locked"

Brackett wanted a dman. I have a source who gets juicy leaks at the draft table once every few years.

Like in 2014, Benning had an offer on the table to Florida including both first round picks + Tanev, he and ownership wanted Sam Reinhart

So we picking 10th OA.
Again.
So be it.

In JB we trust.

But just for fun, if we won 1st OA and got Owen Power...man.
Our core would be pretty much set.

1C - EP40 check
2C - BoHo check
top line W JTM and Boeser check
middle 6 wings Pods and Hogs check

top D pair - Hughes/Power check

young starting G Demko check.

That would be a good core to work with.

But anyways, back to reality.
We will get a decent player i'm sure.

Benning has got us a franchise goalie in the 2nd round and a 1st line sniper in the 20’s. He’s definitely capable of drafting a core player with a 10th or 11th overall pick

So essentially JB overrules the collaborative choices of the scouting department regularly.

Tanev plus 6oa and 24oa for Florida's 1st oa?

That'd be a sweet trade in hindsight.

Just imagine how much JB would have been roasted tho, for missing out on Dre, Ekblad and Pasternak.

So they are only implenting some new rules but waiting a year to implement the others? This league man

JB gets final say on 1st round picks i think.
I've got no problem with that.

It's the rumours of ownership having input that is potentially worrying, although i've never been convinced that those rumours have any real validity.

Until i hear someone actually in the organisation come out and say it, it's just conjecture and fans reaching imo.

Pretty much!

"Hey, the draft system is broken, let's fix it... but you know, wait a year to implement it. Ya, that's smart!"

Power would be great but there will be arguement with pairing with QH.

When did Hogs become middle 6?
Why are you limiting Podz to his floor, you think he's like JV?

The fuck man... why are people so lazy? If I have to Google something to provide you a link, you could just as easily Google "NHL draft rule changes" or something to that effect.
