You need to be getting a better player than Miller back for 9 OA
- NorthNuck

better than a top line power forward in his prime who's signed to a great contract? For 9th overall in a wacky draft?

If that's the case then I sure as hell hope Benning is trading that pick, would love to add a player who's more valuable than J.T. Miller to this roster

We aren’t getting a first line winger for 9th overall regardless of whether we trade the pick or draft. Northy has to be joking

Benning:

“I would say there’s nine guys we really liked in this year’s draft, and we’re excited to draft any of them,” Benning told The Athletic on Wednesday. “Maybe after that it’s not quite so clear, but there’s nine guys we really like and we know we’re going to get one of those nine guys.”

“We’ll keep all of our options open as we’re talking to teams, trying to make the team better,” Benning said when asked directly by The Athletic on Wednesday about the potential for trading the ninth pick. “I can’t answer that now. It would have to be a really good player to move the pick.”

Maybe hold off on putting your picks in on who they choose at 9? lol

Really good player says no trade down.

Yeah, seems like he loves his draft spot and will only move the pick if it's for an impact player who fits in with the core.

I don't see him trading down

I agree, worthy is either overvaluing draft picks or underrating the value the Canucks have gotten out of miller and his cap hit so far.

Chris Tanev on Quinn Hughes : He is going to be the best defenseman in the league at some point. He gets it, on and off the ice, great kid, he wants to win and will only get better.

Tanev smoking way to much weed.

Benning is very calculating and sly. He's going to shake up this draft.

You know what player fits in well with this core with a great cap hit? A rookie on an ELC, not a 28 year old guy who will be on the downside when the Canucks are ready to compete.

I’d be shocked and disappointed if he’s not a stoner with the way he looks.

I mean the fact he’s identified 9 top prospects in this draft and had the 9th overall pick really puts him in great position. He has a ton of leverage on any team that wants his pick.

He’s going to either walk away with a future core player or add a core player to this roster, maybe even do both.

I think it's great! I'll even bet had we dropped 2 spots he would have identified 11.

He is far too stupid. He will draft at 9 and get a good player.

When are the Canucks ready to compete? Next year? A couple years? Miller is at his peak last year through the next one or two. Not that he's going to drop off a cliff, but he probably isn't going to get better and will slowly go down.

Why add someone for that 2-3 year window when you can add someone who will be with the team for longer and through their prime when the Canucks are competing?

Benning, like any good GM, will definitely shop the 9th pick around, if he can acquire another player who can make an impact like J.T. Miller, you make that deal.

Our year is 2022/23

Everyone know this. Miller and Bo on cheap contracts. Elias and Hughes on bridge deals. All the dead $ is gone. Rathbone, Hog, Podz Amd this years 9th overall pick on an ELC. That is our year

There's nothing ninja about it though, hell either draft a great prospect at 9 or some desperate team will offer him another J.T. Miller deal and he'll take it. It's a win-win either way.

This. Just need to get the bottom 6 and the defense improved and this team will be contending in 2022/2023.
