I’m curious with impending free agent Couturier how team can afford to throw big dollars on a dman this year? If they give Jones 9 million, then Couts will want similar dollars next year. Don’t forget about G next year 4-5milion?. With flyers salary cap situation team would need to unload a lot of cap dollars through trades and expansion in the next year to make all of this work. I just don’t see Fletcher being creative enough to reconfigure all of this. I think flyers are screwed. |

13th overall. I’m hoping Mason Mctavish is there at the Flyers pick. Wouldn’t be too upset if Mike Sillinger’s kid is there also. |

Like we’re much better?
Buffalo is likely going to have a real nice one-two punch on D eventually between Dahlin and Power while the Flyers will likely tread water. - hereticpride
How do we know Power is that good? How much playing did they do over the last 15 months?

Easy answer you let Giroux go...In fact you do all you can to convince him to waive his NTC at the deadline. If you want to move forward it is time for that to happen |

Flyers picking 13th. I can see a scenario where the Flyers trade this pick to Columbus along with a defenseman for Jones, and the Flyers take the risk that they can convince him to sign a long term deal with the team once he's here. This gives Columbus two picks in the top 13 in a defenseman heavy draft. |

If Ron Hextall plan was a failure, it’s not for reasons that most have suggested. He brought in all the young talent we needed. Talent I still believe in. If Hextall’s vision was a failure, it was because he tried to change the culture of the Philadelphia Flyers for the worst. Prior to the 2014 seasons and below, we were a playoff team practically every year. We might not have been the broad street bullies but we could stir the pot, frustrate team and push back. We went backwards by getting rid of tough players and tried to get Discipline and speedy.
Montreal had the goaltending and were a small and speedy team forever. Great for the regular season. Now they learned and are built for the playoffs. |

On the habs post about our former boy gustafsson:
Tonight, my sole criticism will be on Erik Gustafsson who couldn’t hold the line on the power play, lost the puck and it lead to a Jets shorthanded. To be honest, I’m surprised it took this long for him to commit a costly turnover. Thankfully, the Habs got their 2-goal lead back in minutes and they still kept their momentum. Gustafsson didn’t see the ice at all in the 3rd which meant a heavy workload for the top 4 once more

I agree with all of this! They changed/ruined the culture here in Philly. Especially now when I see Chicago, boston, Pitt, Vegas, etc all playing heavy games it's a no brainer. This once proud franchise is a shell of what it used to be and I believe you're right that it all changes when Ed passed and hexy made some bad trades to move out our heavy players
Nice post! |

Nothing that we would want. And by trading coots it leaves a massive hole at 1C. Toronto has good wingers but that's about it |

Why are we still talking Hextall, he's been gone for 2 years now. Not sure he brought in alot of talent as you suggest though. We can agree to disagree. |

I think Hextall missed on a lot of players in the draft, and his FA signings and trades were poor in terms on bringing in talent. Overall disagree that the talent is here. I think Fletcher and his staff has done a much better job bringing talent into this organization. |

He did, and that's one of the reasons he's gone. The more time goes by, the more it looks like he didn't do a good job with Rubstov, JOB, Patrick, trading up for Ratcliffe, the list is getting bigger

It's possible a high cap hit player gets taken in the expansion draft as well. But yeah, if Giroux is asking for too much money, Couturier is the priority there. |

The only way I see this idea working is if that Flyers Dman is Provy. I think Columbus would get a better offer than the 13th pick & any Flyers Dman not named Provy.
And moving Provy in a deal for Jones makes little sense to me. Despite his flaws, Provy is locked in at a price that will almost certainly be lower than Jones' next deal. |
