It won't be a huge suspension guys, be prepared already. He's a star player with no history. The only satisfaction we can get is knowing the Jets must be pissed with Schefele. - Not_Yan
I hope he doesn’t even get a fine.
I want to see him out there answering the consequences.. |

He won’t be suspended. Just fined. They’ll use the ‘not a repeat offender’ line. Hard to be one when you done actually suspend a guy. |

He can argue he was trying to prevent the EN goal but the intent to injure seems valid. Scheif was frustrated a good portion of that game. - Woderwick
So even in this case, ok, trying to prevent the goal. What if there was a goalie in the net and it was likely to be an easy save and the same thing happened? There would be no question about how dirty this was. The fact that Winnipeg pulled their goalie should not change the circumstances here. Head on charge towards a vulnerable player. It’s the most dangerous thing you can do in hockey.
And I get that you’re not defending the hit or anything. |

Yup. Somehow he’ll get a 5K fine and the excuse he’s not a ‘repeat offender’. Of course not, if you never penalize someone for something awful they’re not going to be classified as a repeat offender. This leagues upper ‘brass’ makes me laugh at how moronic their logic is. - Habsolute009
Has he done something awful before? Not making excuses for this hit, just not aware of any reputation for him as someone who’s unnecessarily physical or who has crossed the line before.

yes both injuries could have been on flukes. But again, the suggestion that perry ( a historically dirty player) may have done something on purpose right after it happened was called trolling - mr.peanut

Well, it was about as late as KKs first penalty. - Darksyde
he definitely could have tried to play the puck for sure instead of steamrolling the guy but i didn't see it as being a late hit.
unnecessary for sure and if he never broke stride then he deserves a suspension for sure. |

Why is that relevant. That’s exactly my point. You don’t NEED to be a repeat offender to get the proper punishment. Using that go to excuse is weak and invalid as far as I’m concerned. |

More I think about it he’ll probably get a game. Not because the league has any problem with the hit but because they want to let emotions settle before putting him back in there.
Also this is an aside but when a team takes a major in the last minute of a playoff game the PP should carry over to the next game. Like it’s kind of a joke that Winnipeg pays zero in game penalty for this. |

Maybe, but learn to read the room ... Even in the Leafs thread when Tavares was hurt, the was no trolling by either side. When you start arguing right about now, you're just being a tool. Just give it up for now. |

Not late but very dirty and suspension worthy if he hit the head first, which it looked like he did. Stupid play by Scheifele, Pionk pulled some of that EN garbage earlier in the year on the Leafs too. |

Common sense would say, if you’re trying to prevent a goal, you dive stick out to defend the empty net.
He wasn’t trying to prevent a goal..

IIRC, it used to be an automatic one game suspension if you took a match penalty in the last 5 minutes of a game. Not sure if they changed the rule but of course, DOPS could always rescind the match penalty. |

One thing is sure, that will put even more fire under the Habs' ass.
Scheifele will likely be gone for a game (or a few), let's make them pay by filling their net in his absence. |
