I pity them more, as Habs have at least had more post-season success over time.
Plus.. it's kind of unexpected.
Oh, there's also the strong dislike for anything Habs of course.

Our buddy RickJames was secretly cheering for the Habs. Because, like me, he's a fan of the madness.

You think they have the same impact JT would have had?
Tatar did play 5 games, no? - Nasty_Duck
Of course not, but they also have big cap hits and removing them didn't change much.
Did Tatar play 5 games? We barely noticed him.

Drouin was made for playoff hockey. At least...Leafs style playoff hockey. You know. curling back, cycling the puck, avoiding contact and the hard areas, taking dumb unforced penalties. Playoff hockey. |

Drouin actually had 7 points in 10 games or something when he was with Tampa Bay in the playoffs. I'd take that version of him on this team. |

For what it's worth, Drouin has always known relative success in the playoffs.
Was leading the team in points last year in the playoffs.

That's my point. It's not just any 10-11M cap-space. meaningful cap-space.
Lots of Leafs players adding up to 10M could be absent and it also would not make a difference.
JT makes a lot of diff for the Leafs.
The 2 players I picked on the Habs also make a difference.
But as Pat says... it's over.

Oh I'm sure Tavares would have helped them. No questions there.
Kerfoot did a good job replacing him though, pretty much made the same offensive contributions Tavares usually does in the playoffs.
Anyway, no point discussing "what ifs" the Leafs lost, it's a glorious day in hockey and the Habs are winning tonight!

So who are we hurting at the begining of this serie to make it easier ?
in all seriousness, I think they need to take game #1, rolling on the hype, as soon they will be more tired / banged up than the Jets
If they dont win game # 1 it will be very hard to take the serie |

This poop happens all the time. Leafs won 3 in a row without JT. Still had 3/4 core forwards, 2 of which were tops in the league in scoring. There really are no excuses. Leafs had every opportunity to win, just like the Habs. |

I don’t think the Jets forwards are very fond of prolonged physical play, even though many assume they are built that way. They can be had, I think. |
