Stutzle amd hoglander, not more midgets!

Thanks Carol

I heard ryan ellis wants out, speaking of midgets

Should probably just stay where he is, pretty fortunate to get to play with Josi and Ekholm. Might find out that he's been the worse half of both those pairings.

I guess he doesn't care anymore though since he's only 2 years into his 8 year 6.25M contract. Getting paid, way more than he deserves.

Maybe it's just us because there seems to be a lot of D that are overpaid.

I'd put money on one of the Ducks top prospects. Zegras and Drysdale both look really promising.
- Nucker101

Zegras probably will be piling points with top PP and line minutes.

on Donnie and Dhali : I think the Sedin twins could have a big role with the Abbotsford team, I think they want to teach them the bizz.

Slim to none. He's not a scoring machine but his game is what the Canucks need to compete.

Pod will be playing top 6 and getting lots of first rate opportunities. Don't rule him out.

Can look at analytics to find players that are effective PKer's but also have a high scoring per 60 to maximize two qualities needed for the 4th line players.

They don't have to meet any of the skills of a hockey player as long as they can be near the top of both those categories.

People always suggest signing guys that had good seasons on deep teams at low cap hits, I'd like to try to find some hidden gems like how Florida got Verhaeghe and Wennberg. Obviously easier said than done, but it's always interesting to look at players coming off of overpaid contracts as potential bargains on cheap one year deals(Wennberg last year), or maybe a player coming off of an injury plagued season, or a player stuck behind depth on a deep top end team(Verhaeghe).

15. Anaheim is one of several teams looking at changes to their mix of assistant coaches. (GM Bob Murray and head coach Dallas Eakins are back in 2021–22.) Murray had an interesting quote when talking about the hiring of Vice-President of Hockey Operations and assistant GM Jeff Solomon from Los Angeles, telling local reporters, “Jeff brings the analytic component to our organization that really needs to be upgraded and moved forward.”

Merely a decision to shut up the analytics community in Anaheim.........

Bob Murray is a good hockey man who knows how to build winning teams, as long as he's in charge, that organization's hockey ops will be well run

There's one or two of those every year that come out of nowhere or have a decent bounce back season. 31 teams all think they have the guy who is going to do it. 29 of them disappointed.

Murray said Sunday it’s not that he doesn’t believe in analytics, but that the organization had challenges “finding a way to process the data. Jeff will help us take the next step in that. What he explained caught my attention. We’re going to spend on infrastructure to do what we need to do.”

A desperate move by a desperate team. Reminds me of Arizona a few years ago.

17. There’s more to come on this topic, but Los Angeles hiring Ryan Kruse from the Chicago Cubs as Vice-President of Research & Development is not going to be the only such move. With the growth of player and (hopefully) puck tracking, there’s going to be data overload across the NHL. Toronto is (unsurprisingly) building out its department, and I’ve seen/heard of job postings for software development/analytic research with the Blue Jackets, Devils, Islanders and Lightning. Unquestionably, there are more.

Murray has an eye for talent, I doubt he needs a pie chart to tell him if a player is good or not

That's why Murray and others like him will never be working in VAN as long as the family owns the team. Hence the management training courses.

I would be interested to see an experiment like that for an extended period.

Pettersson
Horvat
Miller

With one of these guys on each line:
Boeser
Hoglander
Pearson/Podkolzin

And then sprinkle in a couple of other wingers on each line to complement the duos.

Roll 3 lines and play the 4th line in a limited role where they can go all out snd cause chaos with conserved energy each shift due to less ice time.

If Benning acquires another good winger, that would really make the top 9 look dangerous since Pearson and Podkolzin are both better suited as 3rd wheel types unless Podkzolin proves to be as effective Hoglander.

I was hoping to see this in May but Russians jerked Nucks on Podz and Petey's pulled wrist a slow healer.

Lind, Gadj & ZacMac if they survive e-draft won't on waivers. So they are your 4th liners. Motte though is that top 9 winger that can fill the danger role.

Seems as if that hockey ops has started to feel like they are being left behind and it's showing in the standings.

I'd like those 3rd wheel slots to be filled by speedy wingers who are good on the forecheck and have enough skill to finish off some plays set up by their more skilled line mates. Basically guys who are considered to be decent 3rd liners.

LOL you're the Podz denier so doubt you mean that. Podz will have an impact it just won't be shiny enough to get top Calder votes.

I believe this year was a planned tank by Murray, he knows how to win but right now he's rebuilding. Makes you wonder if maybe ownership is forcing this move on him.

Anyone who Benning likes. Not sure why speed is considered to be synonymous with "small", I see plenty of speedy wingers with size playing in the playoffs right now. They don't have to have blazing speed, just enough to get in on the forecheck.

Also, people get too caught up in height. A 6 foot 205 LB forward hits harder than a 6'2" 190 lb forward.
