So you are saying Price has 5 years left on his contract. His play will likely decline in the last 3 years of the contract. So the team getting Price has $52.5 mil cap hit for two years as an elite goalie and 3 years of pretty good. And that is if he does not have more injuries, which are more likely as he enters his mid to lay 30’s. Count me out.
Name the teams that Price could make a serious Cup contender that have an extra $10.5 mil in cap space.

No cup contender has cap space, especially this year.
Of those with space next year, only Carolina stands out. I think Edm makes a lot of sense but they don't have cap space unless Koskinen and Neal is part of a deal.
I'd love him Ottawa. But, speaking of bad contracts, that would require the Habs to take Murray back, and that ain't going to happen.
Look at it this way...right now, can u imagine the Habs without Price doing anything in these playoffs against the Leafs? And can you imagine Price on the Leafs?
Yes, the contract will suck at the end. All 8 yr, 10 million + contracts suck at the end for teams where the player is over 30.
Habs are in win now mode, especially with Webers age. Price gives them a chance to win any playoff series he is playing in. And isn't that the point of giving him the contract in the first place?
