In a must-win game for Canada, Power played a team-high (by nearly five minutes) 26:07, had one assist and two shots on goal. With Colin Miller out for the tournament, Power basically is the No. 1 defenseman at 18 years old. - gerbe75pts
I’m not opposed to drafting him. Trade Eichel for a pick to draft Beniers and something else

Well like we were talking on Hank's last blog if we could pull a deal with Anaheim and get say Zegras and there 1st we could grab Power and maybe Bernier or Eklund.
True enough. They have a drafting philosophy over the past few years of always taking the player with the highest projected ceiling regardless of position or size. They're swinging for the fences with every pick these days. - BINGO!
They offer a good blue print for Buffalo.
Until they get the right guys in the front office though and behind the bench whether you tank or don’t tank none of it matters if the people at the top stink.
Like Jesus you guys got Trocheck for next to nothing too.

my how low canada is falling when they have to play an 18 year old 26 minutes to hang on and beat kazakhstan

Nobody wanted to play at the tournament
IIHF wants the best players but they put on this tournament during the NHL playoffs... seems silly. Put the Tourney in Sept. you'd actually get good talent.

lol that's where having the GM By Committee thing comes in handy. Waddell doesn't have to do much actual decision making or evaluating himself because the team has a process in place for those, so he can do what Tom Dundon wants him to do, which is make calls about every talented guy in the league.
99% of the time it amounts to nothing, and then sometimes you'll get Nino Niederreiter straight up for Victor Rask.
There's going to be a lot of draft talk coming up. I had a thought to do a player-by-player season review series but I feel like it would be completely uninteresting as the final analysis of almost every player would be
"Bad" or "misused by krueger." Feels pointless.
In addition to the draft coverage stuff, there will obviously be current events coverage. Beyond that, I had an idea to watch tank-era games on YouTube and just riff on it. No idea if that would be funny or just stupid. I'll probably try one out and see - Hank Balling
I can’t see any of the players saying Krueger was the main reason for their personal bad start to this season. That would be the ultimate cop out considering they all loved him the year before. Sure Donny got them going a bit better but that would be expected as a new coach usually gets players attention at the start. Krueger had a system with the wrong group trying to play it and for the most part did not. If they played the system I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t have been a train wreck defensively like they were.

that's the new hitting approach in major league baseball

Who's system Krueger or Granato. Still take Granato's system 100% over Stank, Playing with a bunch of kids. Add some pieces and a Training Camp and see what happens.

It was said they were in not great condition because practices were bad. Granato took over, and had them skating hard and the occasional bag skate to get them in better condition. Ralph was liked because he never made them do the not fun things like this that make you better. Well, apart from all the losing I guess.
